Many people think that it’s easy to find a quality Czech restaurant with a good atmosphere in the capital. Unfortunately it’s not as easy as you’d think. That’s why U Vodoucha in Žižkov should be top on your list. Even though this traditional Czech restaurant is only a 5 minute ride tram ride from the tourist-frequented main train station, you’ll find this place packed predominantly with locals who know what’s good. With an impressive number of Czech microbrews on tap, a lunch menu with classic Czech dishes on offer everyday, and decor that makes you feel you’re hanging out in a village pub in the 1920s, U Vodoucha is the place to go to try traditional Czech cuisine and beer. And while you’re in the neighborhood, don’t forget a stop at the nearby Žižkov TV Tower where you can see David Černý´s babies up close and personal.

There have been quite a few Mexican restaurants to appear and then disappear in Prague over the years. The majority of them were serving up Czexican, nothing really worth letting linger on your palate. Frustrated by this the guys at the soon to be Las Adelitas started a delivery service that took off and then morphed into the much loved Las Adelitas restaurant. In short, you can find here the best Mexican food in the golden city. Apart from authenticity – it is owned and run by Mexicans – prices are quite reasonable with most dishes for about 200 czk. If you’re really looking for a deal, pop in for lunch at one of their three locations (one is right off of Old Town Square), where you can taste their specialties for a meager 100-120 czk. Don’t forget to have a margarita and chat up their friendly, yes Mexican, staff.

Arguably the most Instagrammed coffeehouse in Prague, Spižírna 1902’s ceiling is covered by a custom-designed botanical wallpaper whose branches and tendrils crawl down onto its walls, creating a magical atmosphere of lush vegetation. Aesthetics aside, Spižírna 1902 offers modern Czech food emphasizing seasonal and local ingredients. In addition to good coffee, try their popular yeast-raised ´buchty´ buns or a fruit tart just like Nana used to make. The café is also popular for their rich breakfasts, weekend brunches, light lunches and evening nibbles that will please even vegetarians.

Mezi srnky is a cozy Vinohrady cafe and bistro which will charm you from the moment you walk through the door. Because of its unique open layout and home-kitchen setup, the vibe is more like hanging out in your best friend’s kitchen than in an impersonal cafe. And accordingly so, the staff is friendly and chatty as they serve up a wide variety of homemade meals and drinks. Not only should Mezi srnky be among your favorite Prague bistros because of its innovative interior and minimalistic vibe, but also because they serve brunch daily until 4pm (very rare in Prague) and have an affordable and ever-changing lunch menu incorporating seasonal ingredients. Even vegans will be pleased with vegan-friendly drinks like spelt milk and dishes like the Smoothie Bowl. And don’t miss out on a new event arranged for patrons or private groups called “Bowling” – these are special dinners where you can make your own tasty bowl. You can’t really go wrong with a cafe whose motto is: “Hush. There is more to life than rush. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, cake, wifi, chill.”

The restaurant Mlejnice on Kožná Street, in the vicinity of the Old Town Square, was opened in 1999. It has since become popular not only for its stylish and cozy atmosphere, but also for its excellent cuisine and a wide selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer lovers will enjoy the taste of the legendary Czech lager Pilsner Urquell, non-pasteurized Gambrinus, or dark Velkopopovický Kozel. Apart from that, the restaurant offers a selection of wines from Moravia. It is a non-smoking restaurant.

Luka Lu (Harbour Lu) is a restaurant run by the Djorem family from Sarajevo which cultivates the culinary tradition of a country which sadly no longer exists – Yugoslavia – and of another without which the European table would be much poorer – Italy... Therefore at Luka you can choose between continental cuisine dominated by grilled meat dishes typical for Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and seaside cuisine dominated by fresh fish and other seafood typical for the coast of Croatia.

We took our inspiration for the Home Kitchen bistro from the individuality and charm of each home kitchen. You won’t find any doors here blocking off the kitchen from the seating area. Since the very beginning our goal has been to create a home-like space for everyone. Looking around today, we feel it worked.

Churrasco is a traditional method of cooking various kinds of meat on a big skewer, especially beef. Large and small pieces alike are grilled in a special grill. Rodizio is a way of serving meat whereby the „passadores de carne“ slice the meat off the skewers directly onto your plate. You will also find a paper circle on your table. Turning the green side up sends a signal saying "Fill my plate!

Ever wonder what happened to Jason Priestley (the good ol‘ boy, Brandon) after Beverly Hills 90210 ended? Well, we have no freakin’ clue either, but at least at the Peach Pit you can see his forty-something-year-old face posing with fans during a visit to Prague. If you want to reminisce about the good ol’ days of your pre-pubescent youth, make sure you come here to relive all of your favorite episodes. Four rooms each with a different atmosphere, a jukebox, and retro photos of the whole the gang will make you feel sentimental to the core. Now with a second Peach Pit at: Bořivojova 15.

That’s the problem with drinking, I thought, as I poured myself a drink. If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate; and if nothing happens you drink to make something happen.“ And with that Bukowski quote from Women, you can see why there are always several bar flies buzzing around: what else is there to do in bar-situated Žižkov? Drink. You drink till the streets wind even more. You drink until people become interesting. Friday and Saturdays you’ll find yourself packed in, swimming in cocktails.

The winter months are roaring their way through Prague and the hot, sweaty days of summer seem like they will never return. Instead of getting down in the dumps, try Tiki Taky out for size. It’s easy to fool yourself while sipping on a cocktail here that you sailed away for one of the many islands of Polynesia. A bamboo bar and killer cocktail selection will complete your fantasy. And if you missed out on the eighties, don’t forget to play their one of kind classic arcade game, Ms. Pacman. Lesser-known, local bands often make appearances during your Tiki Taky vacation in Prague.

Do you like cocktails? How about cheap cocktails?Al Capone’s is a great place to go on a date. It’s so cozy that you’ll want to get drunk with your special someone and tell them all of your secrets way too soon. Bloody marys, margaritas, tom collins, long islands-you get the picture. If you can get a spot at the bar, it’s also worth it. This is one of the few places in town that you can watch some real drink alchemists in action. Go early. Stay (probably way too) late.

An enterprise inspired by Ernest Hemingway, a famous patron of bars who lent his name to more than a few cocktails. He famously improved many recipes, which is why bars throughout the world today prepare cocktails such as the Hemingway Daiquiri and his Papa Doble. People associate his bar life exclusively with Cuba, but this is incorrect! While it is true that bars such as La Bodeguita and El Floridita established their fame on Hemingway's frequent presence in these enterprises years ago, the writer loved good bars and drinks throughout the world. The Hemingway Bar devotes considerable attention to his drinks of choice: absinthe, rum and Champagne.

Black Angel's Bar in Prague is designed in the style of 1930s restaurants, the so-called 'public houses', where people of all social strata met their friends after a hard day’s work to cheer the spirit with a good drink, which was then quite unaccountably banned. Located on the second lower level of the hotel U Prince in Old Town Square, it was previously called the Black Angel. The premises with the original Gothic and Romanesque masonry, which creates an atmosphere of secretly 'getting together’, immerse you in the mood of black and white films, where the names of cocktails are not just void of meaning.

Inhabiting the gritty and urban space of the former train station, Nákladové nádraží Žižkov aims to bring bands, djs, art exhibits, and theater to this unique space in one of Prague’s coolest neighborhoods. The project came about from the initiative of locals who didn’t want the historic train station to fall into the hands of developers. All events are supported by the Prague 3 city district, which has agreed to rent out the former Terminal B warehouse short-term. Come out and show your support so this project can become a mainstay on the alternative Prague scene. In 2016 NNZ was taken over by the National Film Achives. The space is now being used primarily as on open air cinema although NFA is plans various exhibits and festivals.

Located conveniently on the artsy island of Kampa (you can see some of David Černy’s alien babies here, check out the John Lennon Wall, and socialize with local artists at Mlýnská Kavárna), you’ll find Museum Kampa right along the banks of the Vltava. At Museum Kampa they focus on Central European art, as well as house the collections of two icons of 20th century Czech art, František Kupka and Otto Gutfruend. Also on rotation are temporary exhibits of Czech and international artists (past exhibits included the work of Yoko Ono, Piet Mondrian, Theodor Pištěk, and Andy Warhol). Even if you don’t manage to make it inside, sneak a peek at their sculpture garden which is free of charge.

Established in 1906, the Jewish Museum in Prague is one of the oldest Jewish museums in Europe. Its founders were the historian Salomon Hugo Lieben and the representative of the Czech-Jewish movement and city councillor August Stein. At the core of its collection were items from synagogues that had been demolished as a result of the clearance of the Prague Jewish ghetto. The museum's visitor sites – monuments, permanent exhibitions and the Robert Guttmann Gallery – are open every day except Saturdays and the Jewish holidays.

At the edge of the Letná park, in front of the National Technical Museum, stands the oldest floored carousel in Europe. The National Technical Museum is planning to restore the carousel's structural parts in the immediate future, which, however, will not be enough to restore the carousel to a fully functioning state. Therefore, a cooperative project between the district of Prague 7, the National Technical Museum and other nearby institutions has been formed to plan the restoration of the remaining portions, and return the carousel to fully functional status in the near future. This initiative is open to sponsorship by the public, that is, to anyone wishing to help restore the Letná carousel.

One of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in Prague, founded by the capital city of Prague. Before its reconstruction it was also the theatre with the largest capacity - 1244 seats. Because a good view was not possible from all the seats, after reconstruction there are 'only' 921 seats in the theatre. Thanks to an increase in the elevation of the auditorium, the view of the stage from all seats is perfect. After a complete and extensive reconstruction, financed by the capital city of Prague at the cost of 630 million crowns, a fantastic new theatre has been born: Karlin Musical Theatre - after the State Opera the second largest theatre in Prague

Smack dab in the gritty part of Žižkov, you will find this gem of a movie theater, which opened originally in 1933! It mainly focuses on independent, artsy films and each month shows around 35 different titles. They often host various film festivals and they even sponsor a short film contest every year. And the movies they play are only half of the experience: they have a fabulous bar (non-smoking until 21:00) and an outdoor seating area in the summer. If you get hungry, there is a fast food stand where you can get all sorts of Czech, greasy treats. This truly is the best movie theater in Prague!

This popular cinema with its comfortable environment attracts audiences more inclined to appreciate the art film genre. In addition to old and new distributed films, it also hosts a number of theme-based festivals and film cycles, and offers morning performances for children and senior citizens. In the cinema auditorium, you can choose to sit on a bean bag or beach lounger rather than on the traditional style seats. But be careful! They are very easy to fall asleep in. There are many similar small local cinemas in Prague, you can find them on www.goout.cz

Boho Vintage Concept Store (cafe/bar/store), a once successful pop-up turned permanent store, is located in the hip district of Vršovice and should be your go-to for hand-picked vintage fashion and relics. In a world where ‘fast fashion’ creates a hunger for those in society to continuously revamp their closets with clothes made from cheap labor and materials, ‘Boho’ serves as an exemplary display of sustainable (and incredibly fashionable) shopping.

Stepping into Bohemian Retro in Žižkov is like stepping into the Czechoslovakian past. This vintage clothing shop is filled with treasures: walls of jewelry, earrings, necklaces, brooches, baskets of hats, shoes, racks of purses and sunglasses, and random knick knacks filling every nook and cranny. In the back room there are racks of clothes with awesome leather jackets and fun-patterned dresses. The shop owner says she likes to buy from the older people because they have great clothes that they want younger generations to put to good use. And besides, everyone knows people had a lot more style back in the day AND that wearing your grandparents clothes is in fashion! The highlight of the store are those pieces the shop owner reworks calling “post-apocalyptic couture.” The biggest mistake you could make at Bohemian Retro – simply not spending enough time rummaging through all of the vintage gems.

PALLADIUM was built on a site of the former “Jiří z Poděbrad” Barracks on náměstí Republiky square in Prague 1 district. The Barracks had been under the army's ownership for more than two hundred years (1780s — 1996). There were many famous Czech personalities within the army crew, for example Josef Kajetán Tyl who wrote lyrics to a song that became Czech national anthem later on. The complex became dilapidated in the second half of the 20th century as the facilities were not used very much. While occupied by the army, the complex was completely closed to the public. It was not until the beginning of the 90s that the Ministry of Defence decided that the site should serve.

The Myslbek Shopping Gallery links the busy Na Příkopě street with the Ovocný trh square, serving as a connection between Prague's New and Old Towns. A stainless steel gate weighing eight tonnes dominates the Na Příkopě facade. The gate's two enormous wings slowly open every morning and close after hours. As you emerge on the other end of the arcade, you walk outside from underneath bronze heads authored by the Czech sculptor Karel Nepraš. The heads point in various directions, symbolising crowds of shoppers. A light-filled circular space in the middle of the arcade invites you to sit in the surrounding restaurants (Sushi Umami, Pizza Coloseum) or admire a unique work of art

BEST COFFEE PLACE ON KAMPA ISLAND. Mlýnská Kavárna is well worth the stop. Located on Kampa Island, the walk there is half of the romance. You can sit outside along the canal in the summer or be inside and take in the art work on the walls, which changes often.
Beautiful place with good prices right next to the Charles Bridge in a very touristic area. This lovely café tucked in off the street is great spot refreshing drink or coffee. Friendly and nice staff.

Kokpit’s “about” section on Facebook proclaims: chlast, kurvy, a chlebičky (booze, whores, and sandwiches). So yeah, Kokpit is one of those places – a place for the adventurous, for the punk at heart, and for those who like to booze it up and thrash around. Until recently, Kokpit was a functioning transformer station, remarkably, in the city center in Malá Strana. Now it’s a crusty, DIY space for concerts, art exhibits, workshops, and film screenings. They are open sporadically, usually when there is a crazy event going on, so follow their Facebook page for updates.

The Café Savoy restaurant and coffee bar evokes the atmosphere of the cafés of the First Czechoslovakian Republic. Its remarkable interior is dominated by a listed Neo-Renaissance ceiling dating back to 1893. Café Savoy is a popular meeting place. The restaurant is well-known for its substantial breakfasts and gourmet menu dishes – including Czech snails or veal sweetbread. The restaurant’s own bakery offers fresh confectionery and bakery products on a daily basis.

The Klausen synagogue is the biggest synagogue in the Prague Jewish Town. “Klausen” was originally the name given to three smaller buildings from the 16th century that used to be on this site. These buildings included a yeshivah (Talmudic school) that was founded by the famous Rabbi Loew. After the ghetto fire of 1689, the Klausen Synagogue was erected on the site in 1694, in the early Baroque style. It was the Prague Jewish Community's second main synagogue and a number of its prominent rabbis served here. It was also used as a place of prayer by the Prague Burial Society.

The Lennon Wall or John Lennon Wall is a wall in Prague, Czech Republic. Once a normal wall, since the 1980s it has been filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti and pieces of lyrics from Beatles' songs. In 1988, the wall was a source of irritation for the communist regime of Gustáv Husák. Young Czechs would write grievances on the wall and in a report of the time this led to a clash between hundreds of students and security police on the nearby Charles Bridge. The movement these students followed was described ironically as "Lennonism" and Czech authorities described these people variously as alcoholics, mentally deranged, sociopathic, and agents of Western capitalism.

Golden Lane (Czech: Zlatá ulička) is a street situated in Prague Castle, Czech Republic. Originally built in the 16th century, to house Rudolf II's castle guards, it takes its name from the goldsmiths that lived there in the 17th century.[1] Although the lane was temporarily called the Street of Alchemists or Alchemists' Alley, alchemists have never worked or lived there.[1] Golden Lane consists of small houses, painted in bright colours in the 1950s.[1] The street originally had houses on both sides, but one side was demolished in the 19th century.[1] Today the lane is a part of the small and big castle rings (i.e. a fee must be paid to enter), while there is free entry after the Prague C.

The Dancing House (Czech: Tančící dům), or Fred and Ginger, is the nickname given to the Nationale-Nederlanden building on the Rašínovo nábřeží (Rašín Embankment) in Prague, Czech Republic. It was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The building was designed in 1992 and completed in 1996.[1] The very non-traditional design was controversial at the time because the house stands out among the Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous, and in the opinion of some it does not accord well with these architectural styles

The Powder Tower is one of the original 13 city gates in Old Town, Prague, Construction began in 1475. The tower was intended to be an attractive entrance into the city, instead of a defensive tower. The foundation stone was placed by Vladislav II. The city council gave Vladislav II the tower as a coronation gift. While it was being built, it was called the New Tower. The look of the tower was inspired by the work of Peter Parler on the Charles Bridge. Vladislav II had to relocate due to riots, so the tower building stopped. He returned in 1485 to live back in Prague Castle, where he lived for the rest of his life, along with the rest of the Kings of Bohemia who lived in Prague.
