Sightseeing
This is a fabulous walk to get your heart rate up, with views the whole way... the most spectacular at the summit of course! It is particularly beautiful to take a torch and watch the sun rise or set and then take in the Mount and Papamoa night lights.
Fantastic walk with views out over papamoa, the mount and Tauranga. Best of all you can start the walk from your doorstep!
Great if timed for sunset or sunrise.. the city lights are beautiful..just bring a torch!

Walking to the top of the mount in beautiful at any time of day, but particularly for sunrise & sunset. It’s a good climb (need reasonable fitness, 1 hour return) but if your kids are fit, it’s fun to go up for sunset & come down by torchlight. The view of mount Maunganui lit up is beautiful too.

Mount Maunganui
Walking to the top of the mount in beautiful at any time of day, but particularly for sunrise & sunset. It’s a good climb (need reasonable fitness, 1 hour return) but if your kids are fit, it’s fun to go up for sunset & come down by torchlight. The view of mount Maunganui lit up is beautiful too.
A beautiful walk in the bush past some waterfalls, 15 minutes drive from here. Great to get the heart pumping and one of the cooler options on a sunny day as it’s mostly in the shade. Can take dogs and there is a swimming hole (though not recommended to swim currently)

Kaiate-fossar
Kaiate Falls RoadA beautiful walk in the bush past some waterfalls, 15 minutes drive from here. Great to get the heart pumping and one of the cooler options on a sunny day as it’s mostly in the shade. Can take dogs and there is a swimming hole (though not recommended to swim currently)
lion feeding is done every day and there are lion cubs to pat at the moment (April 2023). Beautiful bush to walk through, animals to feed (trout, farm animals, birds) plus a couple of kea and a possum they feed daily. Great place to visit with family or young kids

Paradise Valley Springs
467 Paradise Valley Rdlion feeding is done every day and there are lion cubs to pat at the moment (April 2023). Beautiful bush to walk through, animals to feed (trout, farm animals, birds) plus a couple of kea and a possum they feed daily. Great place to visit with family or young kids

It has a communal large heated spa directly adjacent to slightly cooler swimming pool, with a shallow area for littlies. With picnic tables available its a great place to bring a picnic or pop out and bring some takeaway fish in chips in

Pilot Bay is a beautiful place to have a picnic or takeaway meal while watching the sun go down or the cruise ships go out. There are also outdoor BBQs available for use.

there are some lovely cafe's in this area, with my favourite takeaway coffee from the coffee project. A variety of outlet clothes shops and the mall nearby with countdown supermarket, the Warehouse, local library and a variety of fast food outlets. Pac and Save is also here.

Food scene
Only 20 minutes away, the beach is beautiful & empty at low tide/sunset especially. There is an awesome cafe/restaurant right on the beach with beautiful views and good pricing. It also does takeaways and the best fish & chips around (& the most reasonable burgers!). Picnic tables available

City/town information
Rotorua has everything, and is only 50 minutes drive from us! Geothermal parks with bubbling mud and geysers, a beautiful redwood forest with punga/native plants through it - perfect place for mountain biking (can even hire E bikes) and forest walks. The surrounding lakes are beautiful and lovely for swimming or boating in summer. Lake rotoiti & the Okere Falls cafe is only a 30 minute drive from our farmstay. As well as this, Rotorua as all the crazy adrenaline and tourist options you could imagine!
