Town of Cardigan/shopping and places to eat
Cardigan is an old town approx 3 miles from the village of St Dogmaels. It sits on the River Teifi and was the birthplace of the National Eisteddfod. Until the river silted up, it was a major port. The castle has undergone a major renovation and now hosts exhibitions and events and has it's own restaurant and café. You can find a good selection of independent shops, butchers and bakeries and cafés along with Tesco and Aldi (on the edge of the town).
Eating out in Cardigan? Then check out Pizza Tipi, 1176 (Castle), Manucci’s Italian bistro, The Copper Pot, Abduls Tandoori, Yr Hen Printworks.
Cocktails - Bar 45 is owned by the local award winning distillery, In The Welsh Wind, they also run gin blending experiences. Yr Hen Printworks is a nice place to pop in for a drink and a few nibbles and I understand the newly opened Albion has a good cocktail menu too.
Cafes - Food For Thought, Crwst (good for Sunday brunch too), Coffee#1, Stiwdio 3.

Walks to consider include Carn Ingli, Foel Drygarn, The Golden Road. During the summer months, the Pembrokeshire National Park also run guided walks across the hills which you may want to explore.

Ceredigion Coast Path
If you fancy exploring Ceredigion, across the river Teifi, you can head north from Cardigan and explore the Ceredigion coast path. The T5 bus is the main bus to use to get from A to B or the Cardi Bach. Between Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith and Llangrannog, there are some stunning stretches and some lovely pubs to call in at on the way.

You may also wish to walk the old poachers path which runs along the River Nefern from the pretty village of Nefern to the Iron Bridge in Newport.

Poppit Sands is the local beach and also the start of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
Situated in the National Park, it takes about 5 mins to drive to the beach from the cottage or 50 mins walk across fields.
Facilities include a car park with electric charging, toilets, and lifeguards during the summer. It is dog friendly, with a small restricted areas during the busier seasons.
The café, Crwst, serves up a yummy cakes (try their donuts) and delicious coffee.
Seasonal car parking charges operate between March and November. If you’re planning on spending a lot of time on the beach you may want to consider a permit which can be bought via the Pembrokeshire National Park.
To get to the beach just follow the road through St Dogmaels, following the estuary (River Teifi) until you reach the end. You’ll pass the Ferry Inn and the Teifi Waterside on the way.
Other nearby beaches include - Newport Sands in Pembrokeshire.
Mwnt - National Trust beach, near Cardigan. Beautiful cove with steps down to the beach and the iconic 15th century church at the top.
You'll find many other beaches and coves to explore by heading north up the Ceredigion coast, (also referred to as Cardigan Bay - I think there are 38 beaches to be found), or head south and discover the beaches in Pembrokeshire, of which there are over 80.

The Ferry Inn, with it's outside decking area, is a popular place for taking in the glorious views of the estuary while you have a drink and a meal. A bit further down towards the beach, you'll find the Teifi Waterside, newly refurbished and in a great setting. All are dog friendly.
There's a local produce market held on Tuesday mornings (weather permitting), between the historic Abbey (with café and very tasty food) and the mill where Y Felin flour is still produced.
