Olive Ridley Sea Turtles - It is thought that a significant portion of the world’s Pacific Olive Ridley sea turtles lay their eggs in the Ostional Wildlife Refuge Wildlife Refuge protects the Olive Ridley sea turtles as well as the Leatherback and the Pacific Green sea turtles that come ashore in huge numbers every year to nest and lay their eggs during the months between July and December. This phenomenon, known as ‘arribadas’, takes place around 4 to 10 times during this period, lasting roughly between 3 to 10 days each.

We find google maps is more accurate to find us in the jungle on streets with no names. https://goo.gl/maps/9oq4XcQrcdimdDvv9 You can find us using Waze (though Airbnb May block it) : Use Waze to drive to Casitas Escondidas, Playa Pelada, Nosara: https://waze.com/ul/hd1g0ds3ms We are located behind (lower road) Burnt Toast Surf Camp. Access our road at the split in the road before arriving at the surf camp. Directions to Casitas Escondidas from Playa Guiones Taking route 160 and upon arrival to Playa Guiones you will note the following: First 3-way intersection / no stop signs or street lights You will see to your RIGHT some stores (Audio Masters, Organico & Coconut Harry’s Surf Shop) and in the left Café De Paris). At the intersection continue straight past the colourful Nosara sign on the LEFT. As you continue you will see to your RIGHT “Enterprise / National Car rental”. Second 3-way Intersection / no stop signs or street lights You will see to your LEFT signs for “El Local” & “The Gardens” continue straight on route 160. Third 3-way Intersection / no stop or street lights You will see to your LEFT many signs “Na Lu”, “4 You Hostel”, “The Beach House”, “Nosara Escape”, etc… continue straight on route 160 As you continue straight via route 160 you will see another group of signs at the T in the road that you come to - stay to the left continuing down route 160. In a short distance you will see a sign on your left for“Selina”, continue driving down route 160 (300 meters/yards) passing by a roadway on your right, shortly followed by small hill going down. Keep an eye out for the next LEFT turn and take it. You will see a large white sign with red lettering “HOTEL”, “Hotel Beaches de Nosara”, Missky Canopy TourThe World’s Longest”. Take the next RIGHT immediately on turning left into the Pelada entrance (do not turn leftagain or go straight the hill). Go around the bend in the road and you will come to 3 roads. To your left you will see fence posts with the tops painted blue, this roadway goes into the horse paddock (do not enter), drive forward to the CENTRE narrow roadway, do not go right and up the hill. If you come to “Burnt Toast Surf Camp” you know you have taken the wrong road up the hill. Near the end of the narrow road (100 metres / 300 feet) you will see to your LEFT a laneway which goes downhill (small sign saying “Casitas Escondidas” – turn down this laneway and at the bottom you will have arrived at Casitas Escondidas.
