Food scene

Popular vegan diner which has all the comfort food dairy-free that you can imagine! Vegan milkshakes, healthy and hearty egg scrambles, Really delicious! Tourists from all over to come try the food out here. One time I unknowingly took someone to this diner who I didn't realize at the time- didn't know it was vegan- and to this day they still do not know!! They got a cuban ham sandwich! One of my favorites. They also have ruebens and other popular meaty favorites in the vegan version. It's truly hard to tell. Kat Von D frequents this restaurant quite often as well!

Donuts that are truly unsurpassed by any other donut or donut shop I have ever been to in my life-- and I'm a life-long donut fanatic! Bettter than krispy kreme's which I loved as a kid. Huge PLUS: They also just happen to be vegan! The most popular flavor is the jelly donut with peanut butter icing and a chocolate drizzle, (my own personal favorite as well!) But they have other unique flavors that are fun to try such as: Rosemary butter flavor, Blueberry french toast, Pistachio, Raspberry with oat flakes, Strawberry, and more! Truly a Must-have!

Loving hut is a casual, cheap, and quick vegan sit-down (or take-out) restaurant which will truly refuel, and rejuvenate after a long flight or a long night out drinking! Highly recommended. I have enjoyed lunch/dinner here many times with my coworkers or a group of friends, and we were all amazed at how satisfying the food was!

Sightseeing

Domino park is a must-see for sightseeing while you are staying in this area of Brooklyn! The views of the city are incredible, and you may enjoy this brand-new park in style on the built in beach chairs cemented to the ground and plenty of lawns to set up a picnic at. Grab some food and wine from the nearby whole foods and enjoy the views! It's about a 30 minute walk should you want to walk there with a group of friends in the summertime. You will find that there are many other lively groups of people on the main road walking towards this area on the way from my apartment. It's a pretty fun walk with many hip locals to people watch! Walking is free- and an enjoyable way to get more immersed in the culture of Brooklyn here, but if you are short on time- you may take a short train ride to this area or an uber costs about just as much as a train ride- so I usually recommend that as the best option. There is also a taco stand with margaritas here that is a perfect pair for this spot!

The Entry point being in Williamsburg is also a great area to check out on the way over! Walk over straight from Domino Park just in time for the sunset! HIGHLY recommend walking/skating/biking this bridge during sunset with your friends/family (don't forget to bring a camera as this view is definitely insta-worthy!) and then walking over to any bar/restaurant in the LES, Soho, or East Village. I usually walk over to 'Caravan of Dreams', a vegan restaurant and bar in the East Village and grab one of their delicious fruit-filled sangrias! Probably the best time I've ever had here in NYC was when my brother came to visit me and we skated the bridge together during sunset. Truly a must-see!!

Bar Scene

Dive Bar nearby that has actually pretty great bar food and reasonably priced drinks! Veggie burgers and regular burgers alike! They have great nachos and loaded fries and also frozen Pina Colodas, Margaritas, and Pain Killers! There's also a pretty popular patio that is usually filled with people and there are pool table/games located inside. A Mermaid-themed bar with plenty of tatted folks inside! Check out the locals here with a short 2-block walk from my house!

Tradesman is a beautiful dimly-lit bar with an ambiance fit for the gods! Be sure to try the cucumber jalapeno margaritas here! The people here are really friendly and there's a really nice back patio where they serve food and drinks in! Be sure to bring your cash as this is a cash only bar! Lots of locals here treat this place like their second home. You will spot many of them hanging out on the back patio with their dogs!
