Overflowing in natural riches—from a poster-worthy Caribbean coastline to world-class golf courses—La Romana is one of the country’s top destination picks. Fields of sugar cane lead to continuous white sand beaches from Dominicus to Bayahíbe. Cave-riddled forests inside Cotubanamá National Park are home to freshwater springs and Taino rock art. Offshore, the islands of Saona, Catalina, and Catalinita are lined with turtle nesting stretches facing pristine coral reefs, while shipwrecks teeming with marine life rest at shallow and extreme depths. While visitors flock to La Romana for a luxurious seaside lifestyle of chasing tail, scuba diving, fine dining, and shopping, it's fishing village charms along Bayahíbe and Dominicus win many more over. La Romana is the gateway to Saona and Catalina Islands, which are part of the Cotubanamá National Park, and the most visited natural attractions in the country.

This small fishing village is known for its long sandy beach, its popular diving spots and its laid-back charm. Bayahibe is the iconic Caribbean paradise. Here the picture postcard comes to life, with white sands, clear sea a palm-tree fringed beach and colorful wooden boats bobbing up and down in the water. The water in Bayahibe is calm and clear. A variety of diving excursions are available, ranging from cave dives and shark dives to an exploration of the coral reef ecosystem located off Catalina Island. There are a handful of dive schools in the village, and most cater to all skill and experience levels. Enjoy the laid-back pace of life when you’re back on dry land. Pick a spot in the harbor and watch the fishermen working on their traditional fishing boats. Dine in the open-air seafood restaurant, and do what most people do when they come here: relax on the beach. Located on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, Bayahibe is roughly 25 minutes’ drive from La Romana International Airport. The weather is reliably warm and sunny, with a year-round tropical climate. Summers are wet and the hurricane season lasts from June to October. Winter is the best time to visit, since the weather is cooler and drier then.

Discover San Pedro de Macorís, 70 km to the east of Santo Domingo. The city started being a small fisherman village, and nowadays it hides nice places like the malecón, with its beach bars to take a cool beer or rum, and the Central Park as well as some others more historic like the San Pedro Apóstol Cathedral or the Cueva de las Maravillas Cave. San Pedro de Macorís is one of the few places in the island where the “momise” typical dances from Antilles take place. Also known as “guloyas”, they say it was born in the dances from the black descendants that arrived to San Pedro de Macorís from the British Isles of the Caribbean. Participants use masks and both music and dance have an African touch. Despite this, when the dances are dramatized, they are based in Bible lessons or British legends. There are three different kinds of dances: Wild dance, where guloyas move in different parts of the city; Father winter dance; and El Codril, in two lines. Visit the town of Juan Dolio just 16 km to San Pedro de Macorís and enjoy a beach day while you choose among the numerous places to try the delicious local food, or stroll in the shops where you’ll be able to acquire an artisanal memento from your holidays. A couple of kilometers by road to La Romana you can visit the impressive Cueva de las Maravillas Cave, a place mixing history and geology.

Onno's Altos de Chavon is part of the highly successful chain of Onno's restaurants across the Dominican Republic. Our motto is "Eat. Drink. Party!" and that sums us up perfectly. This is where people come and eat a wide variety of plates, drink great cocktails, and/or party into the wee hours of the morning. Located in front of the amphitheater in the beautiful artisanal village of Altos De Chavon, the ambiance reflects why this is a hot spot in the exclusive resort of Casa De Campo.

Fun and informative, even if you're not a cigar smoker. If you are intrigued to find out the manufacturing process of local cigars, then this is a treat.
