On a clear day, you get a 360 degree view that includes La Jolla Shores Beach, Miramar Air Station, Mission Bay and even the hills of Tijuana! The Memorial plaques are beautifully respectful of the men and women who have served our country.

Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. There are also many recreational facilities and several gift shops and restaurants within the boundaries of the park. Placed in reserve in 1835, the park's site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use. Balboa Park is managed and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of San Diego. Named for the Spanish maritime explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, the park hosted the 1915–16 Panama–California Exposition and 1935–36 California Pacific International Exposition, both of which left architectural landmarks. The park and its historic Exposition buildings were declared a National Historic Landmark and National Historic Landmark District in 1977, and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Easy 10 minute drive with lots of parking. It’s a great beach for kids since it has a gentle slope to deeper water. Great wave action for boogie boarding and body surfing. Designated areas for board surfing. Bathrooms, showers, fire pits, a playground and picnic areas make for fun times. Watch for dolphins, sea lions and in the winter months migrating humpback whales!

Park at Torrey Pines Beach and walk south. You will find trails leading up the cliff. It’s a work out but the views and great vegetation, especially those magnificent Torrey Pines will make it all worth it. Walk back to your car via the paved road. Or do the hike in reverse! Always check the tides before you go.

Old Town is our historical site where the early settlers to San Diego called home. There are great Mexican restaurants here as well as plenty of history to see and view by walking around the park.
