Drinks & Nightlife

My husband and his brother opened Belle of Dayton Distillery in 2014. In 2018 they opened a beautiful cocktail lounge featuring signature and classic cocktails with a view into the production side of their distillery. Recently, a spacious and beautifully crafted patio was added. They have an extensive gin list, tons of other spirits, a handful of beer and wines to choose from and, of course, their own Dayton Gin (Double Gold Winner in San Francisco World Spirit Competition), DeTrick Rye Whisky (Double Gold Winner), Dayton Vodka (Gold Medal Winner), DeTrick Bourbon (Gold Winner), Dayton Bourbon Barrel Aged Gin, Habana Joe Spiced Rum. The bar is intimate and has lots of great, personal touches.

The Arcade is open late night and many, many of their arcade games are free. They've got an old school VHS player behind the bar and are usually showing something from the 80's. Great beer and cocktail menu, and they have great sandwiches for dine in or carryout.

Food Scene

I am a huge fan of Lucky's. They serve vegetarian, vegan and carnivorous food and have a huge rotating draft craft beer selection. They have the only vegetarian grill and fryer in Dayton, also they partner with local farmers for their meat. Almost everything from the kitchen is made in house. Lucky's kitchen does a great job with carryout, too. http://www.luckystaproom.com/index.html

If you're looking for a culinary and cocktail experience, I suggest Jollity. It's an open air kitchen and has a constantly changing menu with all kinds of beautiful inspirations. The cocktail menu is full of surprises and one of my favorites. Ever.

Grist's motto is "Provisions with Intention" and that sums up this place perfectly. Last minute dinner reservations are sometimes hard to come by, but they do have some window seating if you get lucky. Food is seasonal, fresh, and made in house by a very talented staff. I'm wild about this place because not only if the food good, it's an experience. Order off their small but brilliantly executed menu, or buy house made pasta, bread, sauces and desserts to go to make back at the space. You will not be disappointed, promise.

Super excited to welcome Tony's and Pete's to the downtown neighborhood! They have a brilliant sandwich and salad menu, including the best potato salad I've ever had, and it's a little grocery with all the necessities. Conveniently located between here and the Levitt Pavilion for you to pop in and grab some to-go food and drinks (including sake in a juice box) and take them with you to the free concert.

It's a locally owned small business specializing in unique canned and bottled beer for carryout. They have wine and beer on tap for carryout as well. You can also relax in the space and enjoy a drink. It has the laid back vibe of a coffee house, except on Wu Tang Wednesdays when they have a dj playing records.

This is where the locals go on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It’s fantastic people watching. You can get also some shopping done here and have a great bite to eat. Lots of local artisans, growers and food vendors.

These guys brew beer with respect, passion and science. Their food menu is inspired, seasonal and executed by their James Beard nominated chef, Becky Clark. Their space is super comfy and there's a lot of outdoor seating. We are big fans of walking here for date night.

My FAVORITE Indian restaurant happens to be a 15 minute walk from the house. I got in a rut with the other local Indian places, but I've been making my way through this menu because, one, every dish taste unique and delicious, and two, I haven't seen some of the options on a menu before. It's family owned and operated, and they're sweet as can be, too!

Sightseeing

It's a small museum highlighting some of our brilliant Dayton history with focus on the Wright brothers and Paul Laurence Dunbar. Located in one of the Wright Brothers original bike shops and only about 2 miles away, definitely worth the trip.

Good selection of new and old unusual vinyl. If you don't see something old that you're looking for in stock, ask if they have it. I've scored big doing that.

Entertainment & Activities

Free outdoor concerts in downtown Dayton June through mid-September. Even if you don't care for the genre', you'll get a great show, a beautiful sense of the community in Dayton, and you'll be outside in some green space listening to music. It's BYOB and food, but they have some vendors there, too. Bring a chair, a blanket or just sit in the grass. Check out Tony and Pete's (or one of our other amazing independent restaurants) on your way for some carryout.
