Food scene
Linger is still one of my favorites after 5 years of living in Denver. They have an amazing rooftop bar with great views of the city and a truly unique tapas style menu from around the world. The decor is quirky and slightly morbid which is inspired by the fact that it was the location of 'Olinger's' mortuary in the past. Definitely make a reservation in advance if planning to go for a weekend dinner!

Another Denver favorite, Machete is just steps from the beautiful Union Station in downtown Denver. This would be a great lunch or dinner stop after strolling downtown for the afternoon. They have great tacos, quesadillas and some of the best homemade salsas I've ever had!

Work & Class offers delicious share style plates and cocktails. The location is rather small and off of the very lively Larimer street in RiNo ( River North Arts District) and I don't believe they offer reservations so go early or prepare to wait.

Señor Bear is a trendy new Latin restaurant located in LoHi (Lower Highlands). The area is very walkable and the food is share style with some yummy seafood options and craft cocktails. This is another reservation recommended spot.

If you're looking for a good burger while out and about in downtown, Illegal burger is your stop. They are open late and are a favorite when out hitting the bars and needing some affordable grub.

Mercantile is a great stop for lunch- it's market style where you can order truly delicious salads and sandwiches, but also find different stations with desserts, cheeses, meats, breads etc. to take home with you. At night it transforms into an upscale restaurant with great wine selections.

There are a lot of little businesses inside a long with many permanent food trucks (our favorite is Lou’s Hot and Naked chicken sandwiches! ) and a coffee shop. Check out the back alley that is decorated and very cute and on the other side is another building with even more little shops. Fun to check out.

If you want to be a real Denver tourist - spend some time strolling the 16th street mall. It’s a pedestrian street in downtown Denver with a lot of shopping and food. It’s an easy walk from Union Station and there’s a free mall ride shuttle that takes you from one end to the other all day.

16th Street MallIf you want to be a real Denver tourist - spend some time strolling the 16th street mall. It’s a pedestrian street in downtown Denver with a lot of shopping and food. It’s an easy walk from Union Station and there’s a free mall ride shuttle that takes you from one end to the other all day.
Confluence Park is right in downtown along the Platte River. There’s a great trail that goes alongside the Platte River with some nice art murals and is a nice way to suspend some time outdoors but still have access to downtown and lower highlands area.

A hip bar on Market St downtown (Market is the primary going out street downtown). They bring out ping-pong tables earlier in the night and has a fun energy - it can get pretty packed and loud though.

If you’re looking for a crazy night out on the town - ViewHouse is definitely a hot spot on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a big dance floor and outdoor patio and are right next to Coors baseball stadium. Would say the crowd skews a little younger there and at the bars directly next to it - as you go further away from it down Blake St the crowd gets a little older.

ROLL is a new nightclub in Denver that’s based around a rollerblading rink. They do fun themed nights (like Lisa Frank) and put on the disco lights. Very fun stop if you’re out in the River North Arts District!

This is a speakeasy tucked away in lower highlands. You usually need to put your name on the list and wait, and then you will be taken behind a bookcase and down to a dark and moody bar with great cocktails.
