The National Park of Rincon de La Vieja has everything from hiking the volcanos, seeing hot mud pits, hot springs, zip-lines, horseback riding and tubing down a river!

Just an hour outside of Tamarindo, this is a nice refreshing little short hike to take a dip in some cold freshwater of the Llanos de cortez waterfall.

City/town information
Costa Rica is known for the cloud forest - hanging bridges, bird-lovers paradise, chocolate and coffee tours and the biological reserve for all the animals that live there.
There is a beautiful coffee farm, farm-stay I personally go to everytime I go visit Monteverde where you can stay on the farm, pick the fruits off the trees and wander through the beautiful trails within the farm that lead to a freshwater river and come home to breakfast/lunch/dinner with the owner there who cooks an amazing Tico-style meal. It's one of my favorite places owned by an amazing local lady, contact me for more details as I would love to share this amazing experience with you - she is not listed on AirBnB !
Alternatively - I can also recommend another place close to Santa Elena but has amazing sunsets right from the apartments and close enough to everything.

The Caribbean side of Costa Rica is our real-life Jurassic Park! If you have the time to trek the 9 hours from Tamarindo to the Caribbean, I would highly recommend taking a 3-4 night stay over there!
Inhabited by sloths, jaguars, tapirs and lots of wildlife, the water is crystal clear during the summer season (no rain) and the people are more relaxed and laid back like the Caribbean town you can imagine - not to mention the FOOD over there!!
