Our Favourite Restaurants
Here is a list of some of our favourite restaurants in town. Most are within a 4-5 minute drive or about a 30-35 minute walk from the suite.
Thaidal Zone is great place for authentic Thai food. We recommend their Vegetable or Chicken Pad Thai, as well as their Massaman or Yellow Curry. The restaurant is located directly across from the Westview Ferry Terminal, which makes it convenient if you need a quick bite before the ferry to Vancouver Island. Simply park your vehicle in the lineup and enjoy a bite either inside or outside on their patio overlooking the ocean.

We've had some pretty amazing food during our travels around Mexico, and Costa (as the locals call it) has food that is right up there with the best of Mexico. This quaint restaurant is small, but provides very unique seating options (both indoor and outdoor). The tacos and burritos are amazing, especially when paired with one of their delicious drink options. Sarah's favourite appetizer is the Sliders...the least Mexican option on the menu, but they'll definitely hit the spot. Make sure you give yourself some time in the summer as they do get quite busy so you may have to wait for a table. Our guests absolutely love this place, highly recommend!

Costa del Sol Latin Cuisine
4578 Marine AveWe've had some pretty amazing food during our travels around Mexico, and Costa (as the locals call it) has food that is right up there with the best of Mexico. This quaint restaurant is small, but provides very unique seating options (both indoor and outdoor). The tacos and burritos are amazing, especially when paired with one of their delicious drink options. 4553 Marine AveI always describe Coastal Cookery as Powell River's Cactus Club. This establishment is great for those who enjoy a very lively atmosphere. It has great table options both inside or outside on their patio that overlooks the Ocean. If you're craving a quick appetizer and drink they also have bar seating. The food is excellent and provides many options including delicious Seafood, Burgers, Salads, yummy appies, and quite a few Vegetarian and Gluten Free dishes.

We absolutely love this place!! If you enjoy some Indian home cooking this place is for you! The restaurant is quite large and will accommodate big groups very well. They have Dine-In, Buffet, and take out options. The Butter chicken or Paneer is our go to dish, but they also have many other amazing Curry and Tandoori options. The restaurant is located in historic Townsite...a bit further than our other suggestions, but is well worth it! Especially if you want to check out our local brewery (Townsite Brewery) which is located right across the street.

Royal Zayka
6275 Marine AveWe absolutely love this place!! If you enjoy some Indian home cooking this place is for you! The restaurant is quite large and will accommodate big groups very well. The Seasider Bistro + Wine Bar + Patio
101-7074 Westminster StThis restaurant hands down provides the best view in town. The patio is quite large and provides excellent seating overlooking the Ocean...if you're lucky you'll find some seating by the outdoor fire pit or front row to the live bands that have been known to play there. The food and drink options are pretty darn good, in my opinion not as stellar as the other recommendations, but if you're looking for a top notch setting to unwind and have a drink this place is our number suggestion.

Laughing Oyster Restaurant
10052 Malaspina RdIf you are looking to journey out to Lund (the very end of Highway 101) plan to have a dinner at the Laughing Oyster. The chef here is very well regarded in town and puts a ton of love and creativity into his food dishes. If you're a seafood lover this restaurant will definitely have some of the Powell River areas best seafood options. Wednesday is the buffet dinner and is always VERY busy so if you're going on this day you could be in for a bit of a wait if the timing works out that way. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Basecamp has an unique design which provides a sort-of Whistler vibe. Base Camp Coffee

The name of this place is inspired by the host of Lakes that Powell River has to offer! 32 Lakes roasts their own coffee so if you really enjoy it you can take a bag or two home with you :). We recommend the Croissants here....they are to DIE FOR.

4707 Marine AvenueThe name of this place is inspired by the host of Lakes that Powell River has to offer! 32 Lakes roasts their own coffee so if you really enjoy it you can take a bag or two home with you :). We recommend the Croissants here....they are to DIE FOR.

Absolutely the best vegan desserts we have ever had. We always stock Paulas treats in our fridge and always like to share this gem when we host friends. She makes every treat with love and you can really tell :)

Our Favourite Hiking/Biking Trails
Powell River is very well known for it pristine hiking, walking, and biking trails. Here are some of our favourites.
Ps. There is a map on the Pin-Board in the suite which will show all these trails.
Duck Lake has an endless amount of stunning trails to explore, allowing you to walk across cool bridges or alongside creeks and falls! Some of our favourite trails for both walking and biking include:
Suicide Creek- Don't let the name fool you, absolute breathtaking views from this trail which works in a complete loop so you don't have to backtrack.
Kelly Falls- This links up with Suicide Creek and offers a very picturesque spot to see a beautiful water fall.
Aloha- Well known as part of the BC Bike Race loop, Aloha provides a very fun atmosphere displaying all sort of cool garden gnomes and an overarching bridge.
Squirrel Crossing- Probably the easiest and best marked parking area in the DL Network. Choose your path once you park here..they all bring you to equally beautiful areas.
**Note** even experienced hikers and bikers can get turned around in the Duck Lake Network so we recommend that you head up with a full cell phone battery and to download the Trail Forks App or an equivalent.
You won't go wrong choosing this Network...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We love this MiniPutt course. Great for all levels and offers a really great atmosphere. Located directly across from beautiful Willingdon Beach, you can drain some putts and take in the beautiful views of the Ocean and Beach Area. Make sure the loser buys ice-cream! (It's really good here and has tons of flavours)

Want to experience a Hawaii quality beach? Lucky for you Savary Island has a beautiful white sand beach to relax at for the day. Savary is also a great place to take your bike and explore! (you can also rent a bike once over there).
It's a bit of an adventure to get to Savary, but well worth it once you are there. It requires a 35 min drive to Lund, BC and an additional 15 min water taxi.

Savary Island Rentals
Vancouver BoulevardWant to experience a Hawaii quality beach? Lucky for you Savary Island has a beautiful white sand beach to relax at for the day. Savary is also a great place to take your bike and explore! (you can also rent a bike once over there).
It's a bit of an adventure to get to Savary, but well worth it once you are there. It requires a 35 min drive to Lund, BC and an additional 15 min water taxi.
When you look out the suite window you'll see a large body of land slightly to the south east....Thats Texada Island. Texada is a super cool place to explore for a few hours or all day if you really love it. Our favourite thing to do is to go to an abandoned quarry, here you'll find emerald green waters which you can float around in! (note, it's kind of a grey area if you're actually allowed to be in there or not, but many people both from and outside of town go here and don't have any issues.)

When you look out the suite window you'll see a large body of land slightly to the south east....Thats Texada Island. Texada is a super cool place to explore for a few hours or all day if you really love it. Our favourite thing to do is to go to an abandoned quarry, here you'll find emerald green waters which you can float around in! (note, it's kind of a grey area if you're actually allowed to be in there or not, but many people both from and outside of town go here and don't have any issues.)

Ok, so strikers isn't the prettiest of places, but if you want take in some old school 5 pin bowling this place can actually be pretty darn fun with a group (you'll likely have the whole alley to yourselves). It's actually pretty comical, it's the only bowling alley I've ever been at where the music is just the local radio station! We've never had a dull moment at Strikers, you'll surely have fun :D.

Haslam lake is our #1 favourite place to go swimming and to float around in! The water is super clean and quite warm, and when the sun is shining you won't want to leave...There's many swimming spots there, so take your pick! (we can also direct you to our favourite swimming hole).
Haslam Lake is about a 15 min drive up the Duck Lake Branch Main..it's a logging road so it's very well maintained...you'll find lots of parking up there.

Haslam lake is our #1 favourite place to go swimming and to float around in! The water is super clean and quite warm, and when the sun is shining you won't want to leave...There's many swimming spots there, so take your pick! (we can also direct you to our favourite swimming hole).

2865 McCausland RdIf you enjoy the odd round of golf, Myrtle Point Golf Course provides a pretty good bang for your buck (especially if you Twilight Golf). There's lots of fun holes on this course, a lot of which provide some beautiful views.
