Get there early enough to enjoy the pre-show entertainment before the dancing, music and food. Learn to make lei, get a face tattoo (temporary of course), throw the fishing net at the hukilau. Great fun for families, friends and couples.

Great little hike up the face of a mountain on the west side of Oahu. The pillboxes are leftover gun bunker/observation points from the war. Excellent views of the Waianae mountain range and the western shore of the island. Bring water and a camera... the pictures don't do it justice.

Great little hike up the face of a mountain on the west side of Oahu. The pillboxes are leftover gun bunker/observation points from the war. Excellent views of the Waianae mountain range and the western shore of the island. Bring water and a camera... the pictures don't do it justice.
10 minute drive from Ko Olina
Kaena point can be reached from the west side, about 20 minutes from Ko Olina, or the North Shore, about 45 minutes. Easy to moderate, mostly flat hike to the "edge of the world", as some local used to call it. It is the westernmost point of the island and legend says ancient Hawaiian spirits would go off the edge of the world and into the afterlife. You will certainly see albatross up close and personal. If you look closely, some of the very large rocks by the water aren't rocks... they're Hawaiian Monk Seals! Again, pictures here don't do it justice.

Kaena point can be reached from the west side, about 20 minutes from Ko Olina, or the North Shore, about 45 minutes.
