Food Scene

(High-energy) The Pump House is always busy. They have a large menu with a variety of options for all tastes. The fish tacos, and the fish & chips dishes are yummy. In the summertime, ask to be seated on the outdoor patio, and you’ll be cooled by their water misters, and it’s not as loud as the indoor seating.

(Low-key) This Japanese restaurant is deceivingly good! Don't let the "dated" building it's in deter you....the building was a Long John Silver's fast food joint in another life. If you're looking for atmosphere...this isn't it. But if you're looking for decent sushi in land-locked Longmont, you won't be disappointed.

(Low-key) This is our "go to" place for dinner in Longmont when we want consistently great food and a no muss no fuss dining experience. Everything I've had is really good, but one of my favs is the Nam Prig Pao (sp?). It's always a peaceful dining experience....never loud, even when full.

(Busy brunch atmosphere) Lucille's in Boulder has been an institution for years, and a 1.5 to 2 hour wait for brunch was not uncommon. When we moved to Longmont, I was happy to see that they opened one here, as well! With Cajun dishes like Eggs Sardou, with creamed spinach, shrimp, poached eggs and hollandaise, buttery grits, and buttermilk biscuits the size of a baby gator, it's not for lightweights. But the food quality is excellent. They source some of their vegetables from their own gardens.

(Casual) This is our go-to place for breakfast/brunch or lunch in Longmont. They have amazing salads, and most of their items are sourced locally and organic. Modern Market is a franchise, and I've tried other locations that weren't nearly as good as the Longmont location. Try their chicken green chili egg breakfast plate. Yummm.

This falls under category "Everything Else" because it's so many things....a french cafe/bistro with a great selection of french deli items. It's also a French style market, with an impressive array of all things French...from table linens to soaps, condiments and fresh baguettes. The piece de resistance, however, is their walk in cooler with a huge variety of cheeses from around the world. Grab one of their provided coats, so you can hang out in the cooler and sample various cheeses they have out. Definitely one of our favorite destinations!

Shopping

(April through November) If you're around Longmont on a Saturday, this is a MUST DO to get your week's supply of fresh vegetables, eggs, cheese, bakery breads and too many other things to list. You can also grab breakfast and brunch items from prepared food vendors. Bonus: the bands that play are usually very good!

Parks & Nature

The view of Twin Peaks from MacIntosh Lake is breathtaking. The walking trail around the lake is about 3.5 miles, easy to do, and just gorgeous the whole way. Super easy to work into your day in Longmont.

Chautauqua Park is an excellent starting point for hiking trails in all directions! It's a beautiful area, and Chautauqua Park is a great location for "low-key" outdoor concerts. So many trails....you're sure to find one at a difficulty level that suits you. NOTE: Take plenty of water with you, and be sure to drink it!

There are a series of trails around Golden Ponds, and some that extend further south and east. This is another quick, easy way to work some nature walks into your day without having to drive to a trailhead.

Arts & Culture

The Longmont Visitors Center is an excellent place to start. They are always very helpful with suggestions on local events, historical places of interest and tours. And, they usually have a few free coupons for various things (such as beer) if you ask.

Entertainment & Activities

TinkerMill is Longmont's premier makerspace. You can take a tour to see what members have access to. Anything you can imagine you want to build, they've got the equipment, machinery, tools, etc. to allow you to do it, from laser cutters to woodworking shop and 3D printers. It's inspirational to see what people are up to and collaborating on. They have many classes....from cheesemaking to prototyping. It's a happening place.
