Food Scene

Perfect for breakfast and lunch, their eggs Benedict are superb. Avoid on Saturday between noon and 1 pm, as the local cycle club descends en-mass and you won't find a table. Great any other time.

Quite simply the best coffee in Edinburgh. A favorite among students and professionals alike, this funky, unpretentious and slightly irreverent cafe can't be beat. Say high to the owner, Dougal, or any of the friendly staff: Ellen, Niko, Holly, Alex ....

Arts & Culture

A fantastic shop featuring the artistic creations of a local artist and print-maker. My flat has a number of Jenni's prints, including the city scene in the front hall, birch trees above the fireplace, and the birds. Besides her prints (framed or not) Jenni creates many Edinburgh-themes products with a uniquely artistic flare - shopping bags, coffee cups, greeting cards, journal covers ... pop in for unique and creative gifts and souvenirs.

Sightseeing

Edinburgh Castle is an absolute must for anyone visiting the city. From it's first use as a stronghold during the Neolithic era, it has been the heart of the city and a symbol of Scottish identity. It also houses the Scottish Crown Jewels, and the ancient Stone of Scone (aka Stone of Destiny). Go see it. Seriously.
