A great day out! For those interested in "1066 and all that" a visit to the Bayeux tapestry is a must, depicting the story of the invasion of Britain in 1066 by William the Conqueror, who came from Bayeux. The city was also the first French city liberated by the allies during WW2. Get the tourist road 'train' opposite the Tourist Information office for a fascinating tour around the city. You can drop off at the magnificent cathedral if you wish, and catch a later 'train' back. A visit to the British/Canadian War Cemetery and museum is very moving and recommended.
