As well as safeguarding 900 years of history, the restoration of Cardigan Castle has led archaeologists to some exciting discoveries – 9,500 of them in fact! Among them, an archaeological dig even unearthed a new part of the original castle, dating back to the 1170s. Other pieces to the puzzle have included an underground room, segment of dolphin skull, medieval arrowhead and NAAFI (Navy, Army and Airforce Institute) mug from World War II; with each artefact revealing more stories about Cardigan, the Castle, and the people that lived here.

An elegant Georgian villa, set in the wooded Aeron valley. Remarkably unaltered for over 200 years, this self-sufficient estate includes a farm, walled gardens and lake. Within the walls you will find productive kitchen gardens, ancient fruit trees, remnants of horticultural technology spanning the lifetime of the garden, herbaceous borders and a wonderful herb garden.

Entertainment & Activities

There's no time to get bored on our original and most popular trip. It's a firm family favorite & offers great value. Covering around 10 miles on an average trip, you'll be amazed at what we can fit into 1 hour. First we head out to Cardigan Island, owned by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and an important nesting area for a variety of sea birds. We then explore the coast between the Island and Mwnt, the area we most regularly see our resident bottlenose dolphins. Our average sighting rate for bottlenose dolphins and/or harbour porpoise on these trips is 64%.
