Food Scene
Chef and owner Sean Moran opened the restaurant in 1993 and what a spot he scored! The restaurant looks straight onto Bondi Beach, so the al fresco dining option is highly recommended (they’ll even bring you a little blanket for your legs if you’re chilly). This is a quaint, produce-driven restaurant with tasting menus and set meals. Sean’s Panorama is all about fresh food and enjoyable eating in a friendly atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it. BYO available, bookings essential.

Gracing the cliffs of South Bondi, embracing the panoramic views of the world’s most iconic beach, lays a unique Australian dining experience. With an ever evolving menu focused on regional Italian cuisine and celebrating seasonal flavours, the intimate and elegant Dining Room is the beating heart of Icebergs Dining Room and Bar. Arranged to take in the famous view of Bondi, by day or night, it makes an unforgettable backdrop to a menu inspired by Maurice Terzini’s Italian heritage and executed with the skill of head chef Monty Koludrovic. Over the years the Dining Room has been at the forefront of evolving the perception of Italian food and shaking up the way Australians eat Italian. The menu is designed to give you a seasonally changing opportunity to sample dishes that reflect the depth of Italian cuisine, created with the best produce that Australia has to offer, including sustainable seafood, artisan produced small-goods and the occasional hint of native Australia just for context. At Icebergs we believe that when the food and the atmosphere combine in a way that allows each to shine, then you receive an experience that will stay with you.

Café by day and chic restaurant at night, Drake Eatery is a great local spot with a fresh and regularly changing menu. Owned and operated by Bondi local and superstar chef, Ian Oakes, the food is excellent and the cocktails are even better. Being centre stage in the main dining room, the open kitchen provides an element of theatre. Not a bad cup of coffee either (if you can resist the cocktails). We recommend the oysters at Drake – they are freshly shucked and go down a treat.

This local coffee charmer by day and wine bar by night is the love child of head Bondi lifeguard Bruce “Hoppo” Hopkins. Being owned and operated by locals means one thing – honest and genuine experiences without any unnecessary flapping or fuss. Considered among the best coffees in Bondi, while not going to the boutique lengths found in some coffee specialty shops, we recommend stopping by Chapter One. With a great view of the beach and being in a slightly out of the way location means that you don’t have to elbow your way to a decent table, as can sometimes be the case on the main strip.

Bondi Farmer's Market every Saturday 9.30am until 1.00pm serving up fresh, organic produce and a ton of exotic food stalls. Chill in the chai tent or sit in the sun and enjoy live music. The Bondi Markets are part and parcel of the local community and Bondi life. For locals, weekend mornings mean a visit to the beach, a wander through the Markets and a coffee down the road. It's a place to mix with the Bondi crowd, shop for bargains and take in the atmosphere. The Sunday Markets held between 10.00am to 1.00pm, are a local institution of designer couture, exotic imports, hand made jewellery, arts, crafts, home wares, retro furniture, vintage clothes and bric-a-brac. This is where brands like Sass & Bide, Zimmerman, Bailey Nelson and Samantha Willis started.

Wanna wax up your board and and hit the different breaks around Bondi? We have the best hook up with the iconic “Let’s Go Surfing” crew, who can let you know where the local breaks are and set you up with all you need to charge the Sydney surf. If you’re not already kitted out with your own gear, come and see the team and we’ll organise surf lessons, paddle boards, wetsuits, and of course boards. They have great options for kids and families too!

Out of all of the saunas in the world, this sauna has the best view. That’s a massive claim, but just wait til you see it for yourself. The Sauna is on the pool deck level and is available to all swimming members and guests. There’s a great bunch of colourful locals that frequent the sauna, so you won’t be short on conversation. Whatever you do, just don’t get involved in the debate about whether or not water is supposed to be poured on the hot rocks or not. $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children will get you access to the pool and sauna.

The sky, the cliffs, the sea and the ocean breeze collaborate to make this old style links course an exciting golfing experience, the way the game used to be played amongst the rough terrain of coastal Scotland. This is not one of those “pretty meadow” style courses where you see professionals chipping towards another million. This is a truly challenging nine hole course that helps you work on your short game. There is one Par Four and eight Par Three holes. The course record is four under Par. It defies even the pros who occasionally do a round here to warm themselves up for big games at Royal Sydney. Thanks to the supervision of the expert greens-keeper, the landscaping and the new greens are top notch.

Drinks & Nightlife
The ultimate beachside bar. Just minutes from the sand you will find yourself at The Bucket List, smack in the middle of Bondi Beach. Summer Sunday drinks are popular but it’s a great vibe any day/night of the week. The menu is varied and while it's not fine dining, it covers most bases, with salads, seafood and burgers. Grab one of the wooden outdoor tables under an umbrella and enjoy a cocktail or two with a bucket of fresh prawns.

Right on Campbell Parade at the south end of Bondi, The Anchor is a great rustic bar with good food. A great point here is that you can enjoy a cocktail while you are waiting for your takeaway food to head back to the beach with (they have cool dine in space here too, but great takeaway is hard to find!). What The Anchor does really well however is drinks. Like a few spots in South Bondi the small bars are full of character and the talented bartenders can entice you into some inventive creations. Our tip for Anchor is try the chilli margarita or ask the barman about the bespoke gin on the back bar.

34 Degrees South is a cafe by day, night club by night. A great spot for brekkie and a Bloody Mary, lunch with a glass of wine or countless cocktails of an evening… Notice our theme here… 34 degrees south have really, really good drinks. The cocktails are good and the atmosphere, particularly in the underground bar is great later on in the evening. With reduced pinot noir and house made wasabi sorbet as ingredients on the drinks list, we can tell there is a lot of love going on behind the bar. Take a wander south down the beach towards Icebergs and then up the hill a little to this little local haunt, then wander back… Maybe skip the sand after the cocktails.

As the name suggests, Bondi Hardware was once a place for local tradesman., but luckily for the hungry amongst us, they’ve swapped the tools for mini hotdogs, sliders and Bloody Marys. Excellent choice. This place is does brunch, lunch and dinner. If there’s a big group of you, be sure to check out the banquet options. Note – The Bondi Hardware crew say they’ve got a quality Elderflower & Lychee Martini. If you find yourself sipping on one, make sure you let us know what it’s like.

Sightseeing
The Bondi To Bronte Walk is the most probably the most walked and most famous walk in Sydney. It takes you along a big part of the Bondi to Coogee walk and along the route of the famed Sculptures by the Sea. It takes the walker through a combination of beaches, parks and stunning coastal views. The walk is about 4km and takes about 1.5 hours… but we suggest taking your time, stopping to soak in the breath-taking scenery. The term “must do” gets thrown around too much these days, but this truly is a “must do”. Get out there. The famous Bondi Beach to Coogee walk hugs the coastline through beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools. The Bondi to Coogee walk plods through Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly beach and surprise, surprise finishes at Coogee beach. The Bondi to Coogee walk is a breathtaking cliff top walk that hugs the coast for six kilometres. The beaches and parks offer a place to swim, bake or stop for a bite and refreshment. Most beaches offer toilets and change-rooms, and Tamarama, Bronte, Coogee and Maroubra have free electric barbecues. While the walk could be completed in as little as two hours, it is best enjoyed with long breaks by the ocean.

Bondi Rescue burst onto our screens around 2005 and introduced the world to the larrikin lifeguards patrolling Bondi Beach. Australia has watched these men grow up on their television screens, saving many a sunburnt tourist along the way. The lads love a laugh, but are also extremely good at their job. They also run training courses and preach surf safety. Keep an eye out for them… you might get on TV!

It’s easy to get lost within the murals that are sprayed on the Bondi Beach sea wall. You’ll find a mix of everything on this al fresco artwork – collages blending stencil, pop art, and surrealism with Aladdin, Arnie and animals – optical illusions and symmetrical mandalas merging into love notes, political messages and shout outs. This is a wall-bound melting pot of genre and subject matter. Be sure to bring your camera, your favourite mural might be gone tomorrow. Although the art on the sea wall is constantly changing, there are two murals that are there for good, and both for good reason. “The Girl With A Frangipani In Her Hair” (dedicated to local girl, Chloe Byron, who lost her life in the Bali bombing) and the Anzac mural were endorsed by the council for long-term preservation in 2009.
