The park is home to a several different facilities for recreation and activity purposes. The park is home to five different beach access points, the three primary points on the gulf side of the park, and two additional, smaller access points on the Santa Rosa Sound side of the park. Two of these five access points also have diving reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving The park has a roughly one mile long path for walking, running, and bicycling. In addition, the park has a dozen pavilions with picnic tables and coal-fueled stoves, for picnics and outdoor meals. All five beach access points have public restrooms.
Located at the Marine Park is the Marine Sanctuary. This project created near shore artificial reefs in Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf of Mexico off Navarre Beach. Our volunteers continue to inform the public about the economic, environmental, and educational benefits of reef programs and making Navarre Snorkelicious. Near-shore reefs allow people of all skill levels to easily view marine life and ecosystems inhabiting the reefs by traveling only a few hundred feet off-shore. These reef sites offer an easy and inexpensive option to increase your snorkeling and diving abilities or check out a new piece of equipment.

Opal Beach is more a secluded beach to visit. Please note that there is 1 small parking lot out there that can stay full and there are no bathrooms out there. The drive alone to Opal Beach is worth the visit.
Directions: Go over the Navarre bridge all the way down to the stop sign then turn right on Gulf Blvd heading west toward Pensacola Beach. Enjoy the drive on Gulf Island National Seashore.

Depending on traffic, Destin is about 35 mins away from my house. I would check traffic on a GPS app (like Waze) before you leave. If there’s an accident, it can take a really long time to get in/out of Destin.
My favorite restaurants in Destin are: Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House and Brotula’s Seafood House and Steamer. McGuire’s is another good choice.
Destin is super packed in the summer, traffic can be really bad, so I would try to call in beforehand also. Wait times can be 2 hrs+.
