Everyone knows about the Statue of Liberty (definitely worth visiting or at least taking the Staten Island Ferry - free- to sail past it) but do you know about Ellis Island? Did your family immigrate to the US between 1892 to 1954? Nearly 12 million immigrants arrived at the Port of New York and New Jersey and were processed there. Now a museum it tells the stories of people coming to America, and what happened after they landed.

One of the most popular parks in NYC with locals and visitors! This unique park is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated greenway created on an abandoned rail line. It was inspired by a similar park in Paris and redesigned as a "living system" incorporating designs from landscape architecture, urban design, and ecology. The park features native plants which were growing wild on the tracks before it was developed. It offers views of the city and the Hudson River. The High Line also offers temporary art installations and performances. Go any time of day during the week but on summer weekends you will have to schedule your entrance ahead of time (it is free).
