This 13.4-mile continuous paved trail runs from the Walkway Over the Hudson (with a direct link to the regional trail network) to the restored Hopewell Depot at its East Fishkill Trailhead in the hamlet of Hopewell along the former Maybrook Rail corridor through the towns of Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, Wappinger and East Fishkill.
On the Ulster side (opposite side of the river) of the Walkway Over the Hudson is the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, a 7.1-mile asphalt trail which ends in New Paltz. It starts off near the shops in the hamlet of Highland and then turns into more wide-open space.
