Temecula wine country and Fallbrook are not ideal for public transport and often Uber/Lyfts take some time. Having a car is the best way to experience this region of California. The Wineries are up on hills and you have to take scenic winding roads to get to them. Pretty cool!

Winter months in Temecula/Fallbrook
While the summer time is great for the big festivals, hot air balloon rides and California vibes, the locals like to visit the wineries in the winter (Dec-March) while the tourists are away.
Be like the locals and enjoy the same wineries and sights without the extra hustle and bustle of the summer crowd. Besides, winter in San Diego is not really winter weather at all.
