Meg and Chris's Guide to Local Noosa Attractions

Sightseeing
This popular National Park features some of Queensland's most picturesque scenery. Popular with both locals and visitors, the coastline views include secluded beaches, rugged rocks and spectacular ocean views. Walkers might spot dolphins playing in the ocean at Boiling Pot and Dolphin Point, or green turtles in the surging waves below Hell's Gates. There are many walking tracks through rainforest, open bush, clifftops and beautiful sandy beaches. Noosa National Park is just a quick drive – simply continue on Eastwards through Hastings Street to the National Park carpark. Many of the tracks winding through the park start and end at Noosa Headland day-use area. There is usually plenty of parking to be found at the park day-use area (unless the waves are high and the Coasts surfers are making the best of the surf conditions).

Noosa Hill lookout is an easy drive via Viewland Drive in Noosa Heads, and boasts magical views of Laguna Bay and the Noosa River below. You can also take a 1.3km uphill walk from Hastings Street, so can enjoy a great aerobic start your day before returning for breakfast by the beach. We suggest you turn right at Locale Restaurant into Morwong Drive, towards Peppers Resort and then take the wooden steps on the left up to the lookout. These steps are slightly less strenuous than the more well used steps to the left of No 1 Hastings St resort. Also the track takes you up through a lovely winding path in a bush setting.

The Noosa ferry is a relaxed journey down the Noosa River where visitors can cruise on river boats and discover the beautiful Noosa River and its surrounds. This is a slow journey up the river with a seven stop round trip between Tewantin and Hastings Street including Noosa Sound and Noosaville. The boat captain gives a running commentary of fun facts about the sights along the trip. Visitors can hop on and off whenever and wherever they please, so you can make a morning or afternoon of your trip. The Ferry also has a sunset cruise starting at the Sofitel Jetty. You can take your own drinks and snacks onboard and enjoy the sunset over the river.

The Everglades tours are very popular with Visitors. The trip includes a boat ride up the Noosa River and into the pristine Everglades wilderness. The Everglades are tropical wetland, with tea tree stained waters bordered by untouched bushland. There are several tour options available, including a relaxed boat trip from Noosa, or a boat/canoe combination. Trips are generally at least half day and include snacks or meals.

Hastings Street, Noosa Heads is situated on Laguna Bay, one of the most beautiful north-facing beaches in Australia. Hastings Street is the heart of Noosa Heads, loved for its mix of beachside luxury and laidback holiday atmosphere. Resorts, cafes, restaurants, bars and boutiques provide a coastal yet luxe vibe. Lots of gorgeous shopping or enjoying coffee overlooking the beach or watching the passing parade on Hastings Street. Low-rise and bordered by Noosa Main Beach, the Noosa River, Noosa National Park and the Noosa Spit parkland, we think that Hastings Street has something for every visitor.

Driving tours - for those who can travel further afield
The Eumundi Markets are a 16 km drive, and are a personal favourite for many of our visitors to Noosa. The Markets are held every Saturday and Wednesday mornings. The Saturday market has more stalls open, although Wednesday is a less crowded experience. The market offers many locally made and artisan products and, includes foods, artworks, homewares, clothing and hats. We consider the markets to be the best that we have ever enjoyed, with the market located under huge shady fig trees and products of outstanding quality and variety. A must for Noosa visitors. The markets are extremely popular, so we suggest arriving early. If you are self-driving, we generally try to arrive around 7.30am to ensure a close carpark, and before the crowds arrive. For those without a car, the route 631 bus departs from Gympie terrace and takes approximately 34 minutes.

Montville is a beautiful tourist drive of around 50 minutes from Noosa. Once you drive through Nambour, the road takes you up a winding road through lush farmlands and scenic local villages. Montville is a quaint and beautiful village perched on the edge of the hinterland. Cafes, galleries and stores face over spectacular views of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Mapleton is a village on the road to Montville, and sports a classic Queenslander pub overlooking hinterland views, a great stop for a cold beer on your way to Montville. This region boasts rainforest walks through the Kondalilla National Park and the Mapleton Falls National Park, both popular destinations for hikers.

Our top Noosa restaurant picks
Modern Australian food. Great food and ambience, right on the main beach at Hastings St. A lovely location, overlooking Laguna Bay, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A buzzy vibe, always busy and is usually noisy at night. Best spaghetti marinara in Australia! Bookings are essential. Licensed

Modern Australian food. Season is also on the beachfront at Hastings Street, but being smaller allows for a more intimate atmosphere than Bistro C. Season is one of our favourite breakfast venues, but we also highly recommend the lunch and dinner menu. The waiters here are excellent and friendly. Licensed

Modern Australian food. Rickys is lovely for a special occasion or romantic night out. Located right on the river at the end of Quamby Place (mid way between Hastings Street and Gympie Terrace), the atmosphere is both luxe and coastal. Delightful views overlooking Noosa river, and if you are lucky enough to secure an outside table you might spot fish jumping at sunset. Licenced.

Modern Australian. One of our favourite breakfast haunts. Being at the Junction, Canteen does not have water views. However it does have a more urban vibe, and is very popular with locals. Excellent breakfast and lunch options for everyone (not open for dinner). Licensed.

Local Spa Experiences
We have personally enjoyed the absolute luxury of the Noosa Springs Spa. The Spa includes a Hydro Massage Pool, spa, sauna, massage and various treatments. The location is lovely, with beautifully manicured gardens. Your treatment will include a finale of mocktail and a snack while you relax in a room facing a tropical courtyard.
