"Ridge upon ridge of forest straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America's most visited national park. Grant's favorite trails are Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte, Cade's Cove, and Ramsey's Cascade, and Laurel Falls."

Explore the great outdoors from your own car, on this 5.5 mile one way loop. The entrance is near Rainbows Falls parking area. Roaring Fork is one of the larger and faster flowing streams in the park. Drive this road after a hard rain and see the inspiration behind the name. Be sure to bring hiking shoes, there are lots of places to get out and explore. Please note that the road is closed in winter. "The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail also provides access to the Trillium Gap Trail. Hike the Trillium Gap Trail to reach Grotto Falls, the only place in the Smoky Mountains where you can stand behind the falls as the water cascades to the pool. If hiking to a waterfall is not your thing, the Place of a Thousand Drips can be reached by car.
