In Hancock is an outfitter that rents kayaks and canoes and picks you up down river for a day of floating the river. Eagles, deer, an array of birds and ducks and beaver abound. Floating the rivers in a drift boat is a popular way to fish for the novice and experienced fishers alike. One of my better wild rainbow catch and release fish on the Upper Delaware locally called the "Main Stem".

Belleayre is the largest ski mountain in the Catskills, state owned ski resort and about an hour by car with a gondola for those cold days. It also is open in the summer for scenic rides to the top, and swimming and hiking.

Plattekill Mountain is a must for ski enthusiasts who want to be transported back in time for how skiing was in the 50's and 60's. It is small but huge in ambiance, has a challenging vertical drop, an awesome inner tube slope and a cozy lodge where you might just want to spend an afternoon at the bar next to a wood burning stove sampling local beers and eating comfort food. It is about a hour away from Beaverkill Manor.

Callicoon is about 30 minutes away by car and has a turn of the century charm with antique stores, restaurants and a continuously operated movie theater from 1948. The farmers market on Saturday's is highly recommended where you buy direct from farmers in the area. Peck's family market is also a great place to to your grocery shopping and sells loads of locally produced cheese, vegetables and meat. There is even a banh mi sandwich shop in town as well as a brew pub serving a full menu. Peppinos restaurant does excellent pizza to go and serves up a full menu of Italian food for diners.
