These are great restaurants that are close by our home, or a short distance away. Not in any ranking order, just some to consider depending on the genre that you are looking for.
Voted "Utah's Best Pizza" and close to "One Mile Wonder Home" in either a sit-down restaurant or take out only- both close-by options (near the University.) The cheesy pull-a-part is just plain crazy good.

From "Female Foodie" review: " If you’re craving a trendy, yummy, sunny breakfast, head over to Eggs In The City (wow- I really do love this place). As cheesy as it sounds, everything is simply happy here. The food, the waiters/waitresses, the big opened garage door, and even the yellow-colored building. This Utah state park, located near Hogle Zoo and the mouth of Emigration Canyon, encourages visitors to step back in time and see Utah during its early settlement stages. The experience at this family-friendly attraction is educational, entertaining, and non-denominational. Led by a man named Brigham Young, pioneers arrived in the Great Salt Lake valley on July 24, 1847. Brigham Young, who was suffering from altitude sickness, looked out at the valley from the back of his wagon and declared, "This is the right place. Drive on." The Park's "Heritage Village" represents the pioneers' early settlements in the Utah territory.

Inside, the Capitol is divided into two wings, each lined by marble Ionic columns weighing 25,000 pounds. In the center is the 165-foot tall rotunda. The ceiling of the rotunda is beautifully painted with clouds and seagulls, paying tribute to the state bird. Twelve paintings lining the rotunda were a WPA project and painted elsewhere then attached to the walls. The paintings depict scenes from the early history of the state and its settling. Statues in the Capitol include likenesses of Brigham Young and Philo T. Farnsworth (inventor of television).

The park is massive, lush and scenic. The area is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. The name came from the fact that they used to grow sugar beets in the region. My grandmother (Chris') won a contest naming the park, Sugar House Park with a $25.00 prize. The Sugar House district is trendy and has a peaceful and laid back feel to it.

The Living Room is a viewpoint that overlooks downtown Salt Lake City. Someone has taken flat rocks and built Flintstone-style furniture so that you can sit and gaze off at the city while you relax. It is really quite a sight. The trail starts out near Red Butte Gardens. In fact, you drive to the gate of the gardens, but instead of entering, you turn right on the road called Colorow. Drive about a quarter-mile, and the trailhead is on the left. The trail itself is steep and rocky. It climbs over 1000 feet in less than a mile and a half (1.35 miles to the Living Room, or 2.7 miles RT).

From "City Weekly" article: There are a couple of things to know right off the bat about the “new” Bar-X. Yes, you can still get the infamous tankards full of Bud or Bud Light for cheap, but you can also get them filled with a selection of local microbrews for not much more. And yes, there is a menu of $9 specialty cocktails that will make hardheaded patrons of the old beer-only Bar-X cringe. But once you taste drinks like the Sazarac—rye whiskey, sugar, Peychaud’s bitters, served in an absinthe-coated glass—you realize those cocktails are totally worth the money. Co-owner Jeff Barnard compares the handcrafted cocktails to buying something at Tulie Bakery versus a grocery-store bakery: “The time and care are different, as is the price.
