Sightseeing
This is a great place to relax after a day of skiing. It has a rooftop spa, hot tub, steam room, and gym. Day passes range from $35-50 depending on the time of year and day of the week. All you have to do is bring yourself and a swimsuit. They supply everything: robe, sandals, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryers, lockers, and tea for your enjoyment. You don't have to book a treatment to get a day pass to the facilities. If you want to be savvy, check out their spa menu: some of their treatments like nail polish or a man's haircut cost about the same as the entry price so you can enjoy both. Go to www.snowbird.com website for pricing and hours.

Suburban Food Scene
This place has the best fish tacos in Utah and all of their food is delicious. The dress code is very casual (ski gear is ok). It is a local favorite of ski bums and is always crowded on the weekends after a powder day! It's good as to-go or eaten on their outdoor patio (weather permitting).

This is a good place to get American pub food with a local brew. They have all of the Utah microbrew beers and make fantastic seasonal creamy chicken noodle soup. The beer on tap is regular strength and not 3.2%. The bottled beers have highest %. Both of us recommend the apricot hefeweizen. NEITHER of us recommend getting a mixed drink here as they are tiny. Check out the beer instead.

They have the local beers on tap (regular strength, not 3.2%). The food is German themed but you can also get a good American burger and fries. We like the restaurant atmosphere and they also have a bar if you just want a drink.

This place is more upscale but not too fancy. They have seafood, oysters, and surf n turf. Their clam chowder is fantastic! You can get the chowder as your meal or as a side dish. They have an early bird special menu on the Oyster Bar side. If you go right after skiing you can get a better deal. Check out their website for details. They have a good wine and cocktail selection.

They have good American food, garlic burgers, and interesting appetizers like deep fried pickles. They have good local brews on tap (not 3.2%). They used to have a happy hour on certain days for beers and appetizers. I would suggest calling for details.

This place has some of the best pizza in Utah. But heads up, Utah is not known for pizza. If you're from a place that's known for it's pizza like Chicago or New York, you won't be impressed by this hidden gem. But, if you want decent pizza with thick hand tossed crust, lots of cheese, and vast topping selections this place will satisfy you.

This is a chain sushi restaurant that has a good atmosphere and you can get specialty sushi rolls. It's in the business district so business or casual attire is fine. It's located right by the Century movie theater if you want a meal and a movie.

*Don't judge a book by it's cover* This place looks like a dump and you would not think a sushi restaurant was located here (strip mall by a nail salon and printer cartridge place). But, it is a local favorite and the sushi is downright decent. Tuesday & Wednesday nights are the days to go. They have select regular rolls on happy hour and they are between $5-$8. These are regular rolls and not skimpy happy hour rolls. Jason and I usually can't eat more than 3 rolls between us. If you just want some sushi and not a fancy atmosphere try it out.

Ski Resort Bars
Great little bar to get a drink after Skiing. It's located in the Peruvian Lodge of Alta Ski Resort. It's the very first thing you'll see when you arrive at the town of Alta. It's the building with the green flags across the parking lot from the Collins lift. They sometimes have live music and it's a town of Alta favorite!

The bar is located upstairs from the front desk of the lodge. It has huge windows that overlook the iconic Alf's High Rustler run. If you get there when it's not crowded you can grab a fireside couch or table and watch the skiers on the Collin's lift. They serve beer by the glass or pitcher and have decent pizza. The have TV's for watching the game. Pros: Unbeatable view. Cons: bathrooms are "rustic".

There is no view at this bar located at the bottom of the Snowbird Cliff Lodge but it's a good place to go drown your sorrows on an icy, windy, crappy ski day. Ask them if they still have their beer-and-a shot for $5 special. They have TV's, pool tables, and local ski bums.

Lift Tickets, Gear, & Ski Tuning
They sell lift tickets so you can beat the lines at the resort. They are usually a little bit cheaper, too. If you forgot your gear they have stuff for sale and they can tune your skis. They are located right at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Ski bus, Uber, or Car Rental is the way to go
This is the suburbs. Unfortunately, there is nothing close by except grocery shopping, Starbucks, Walgreen's and McDonalds'. The ski resorts are definitely the main attraction! But, if you don't want to go all the way downtown there are some local gems only a short drive away.
