The Luzerne County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse located in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania (along the Susquehanna River). The building houses the government of Luzerne County. The courthouse was designed by architect Frederick John Osterling (1865–1934) and built between 1906 and 1909. It is a cruciform plan building in the Classical Revival style, with a domed central rotunda 53 feet in diameter. It is built of Ohio sandstone, reinforced concrete, and terra cotta. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The courthouse grounds connect with the River Common (a park which runs along the riverbank). The Market Street Bridge bisects the park. Its features include a 750-person amphitheater, paved walk-ways, gardens, ornamental trees, seating areas, a fishing pier, and two grand gateways connecting the city to the river. There are also views of the courthouse from across the river (in Kirby Park and Nesbitt Park).

Seven Tubs Recreation Area is a publicly accessible recreation area located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, and owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Continuously flowing glacial meltwater gouged a line of smooth tubs in gritty sandstone over 12,000 years ago.[1] The tubs are potholes formed by the flowing water. The site is part of a 537-acre (2.17 km2) recreation area in the Pennsylvania mountains about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of downtown Wilkes-Barre.[2] The site is popular among hikers for its easy accessibility and beginner-level hiking environment.

Kirby Park: nice trails, track for running, sports fields, nice quiet place to sit relax along the Susquehanna River. Just a short walk from downtown and over the Market Street Bridge, the grounds have expansive green space, picnic areas, playgrounds, a fitness trail, pond, walking paths, running track, softball fields, parking lot, volleyball courts, tennis courts, and pavilions. The family of Fred Morgan Kirby, a five-and-dime-merchant who opened his first store in Wilkes-Barre in 1887, gifted the city with the 52 acres known today as Kirby Park. The park hosts special festivals, like the city’s Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in April. In the winter, the dike and rolling hills are perfect for sleigh riding and snow tubing. In the summer, locals can be seen laying out blankets to soak up some sun and watch the park come alive with children, couples, and pets.
