In 1972, the Henry Grady Hotel was demolished to make room for The Westin Peachtree Plaza. Designed by Atlanta’s own world-renowned architect, John Portman, the 73-story hotel is a cylindrical tower clad in reflective glass that consists of 1,073 rooms, 200,000 gross square feet of meeting and exhibition space (including the adjacent Building 1 at AmericasMart) and a dynamic, 90-foot sky-lit lobby that incorporates elements of nature with rich textiles, modern furnishings and thoughtfully-appointed seating zones. At 723 feet, the dramatic hotel was Atlanta’s tallest building until 1987, when it was surpassed by One Atlantic Center. Today, The Westin Peachtree Plaza is the fifth tallest building in Atlanta and remains the tallest hotel in the Southeast. A mainstay of the Atlanta food scene, The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View is uniquely positioned atop the iconic Westin Peachtree Plaza, a defining feature of the city’s skyline. The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View offers unparalleled views and a distinct Atlanta dining experience that makes the most of the city’s proximity to local, farm-to-table ingredients. A tri-level complex, The Sun Dial features an upscale restaurant, a cocktail lounge and an observatory level with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the magnificent skyline from 723 feet above. Located in the heart of downtown, The Westin Peachtree Plaza underwent a grand $70 million renovation in 2014. It is nearby some of Atlanta’s top business venues and tourist attractions including the CNN Center, the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coca-Cola and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Atlanta is located at 1075 Peachtree Street in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. As anticipated, steak is the main attraction. With a female-friendly mindset, STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options and market fresh fish entrees. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; and Sweet Corn Pudding.

After helming Woodfire Grill, starring on Top Chef, and writing his first cookbook (which was nominated for a James Beard Award), chef Kevin Gillespie opened Gunshow in 2013. He named the spot after a Sunday tradition with his father but created an entirely unique concept for the menu, combining elements of Chinese dim sum and Brazilian churrascaria. Here, diners pair small plates like Japanese bacon-and-shrimp pancakes, Caribbean red snapper crudo, and Southern-style banana pudding with quirky cocktails, made with ingredients like asparagus vodka and shishito syrup. Popular with locals, Gunshow is also a favorite of celebrities, so make a reservation to avoid waiting.

Grindhouse Killer Burgers served its first customer in 2009, inside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market in downtown Atlanta. The concept was created by by Alex Brounstein, an Emory graduate and former real estate attorney, who had been working to jump start the revitalization of Atlanta's historic indoor public market. Situated among seafood, meat and produce vendors, Grindhouse quickly became known as the place to get some of Atlanta’s best burgers in one of the most unique and fun atmospheres in the city. In its first year in business, Grindhouse immediately began receiving "Best in Atlanta" awards from local publications such as Creative Loafing and Atlanta Magazine, for its hamburgers, veggie burgers and homemade brisket chili. Customers lined up for their fresh ground burger fix, and stuck around for the campy B-movies and Kung Fu flicks projecting on the subway tile walls.
