“Located next to Monticello and Michie Tavern, Carter Mountain Orchard is family-owned and operated. The mountaintop location affords spectacular views of Charlottesville, the Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is so much more than an apple orchard! ”

They offer music, video entertainment, arcades, pool, shuffleboard, The Alley is fun for the whole family! “A visit to Charlottesville isn't complete without a stop at the Downtown Mall, one of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation. Ours contains a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants (many with outdoor cafés) housed in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street. Ice skate, enjoy a movie or play, or simply relax under magnificent oak trees along the red-bricked mall. Convenient parking in nearby garages makes a visit easy for guests of all ages.”

“The downtown pedestrian mall is the center of Charlottesville’s social and cultural life (unless you’re an undergrad- then it’s the university and the Corner!). A brick-lined street closed off to traffic, the downtown mall has a ton of great restaurants, boutiques, and history. On a nice day go down there to stroll and people watch. In the evenings, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall, expect a busy and celebratory atmosphere, with a buzzing restaurant scene and active music scene. There are five music venues on the downtown mall (The Southern, the Jefferson, the Paramount, the Pavilion, and Miller’s) so be sure to check out the offerings. In the spring, summer, and early fall there’s also a free outdoor concert every Friday starting at 5 pm. (Fridays After Five). ”

“I love this place for buying fish-they used to have a place like this in New York in the meat packing district, its more like an old market than a super market”

“On the west side if I-81, this "modern" farm market is full of great, old- and new-fashioned foods, beverages, confiments, candies, and treats for sale. Has ice cream, bakery, and fudge cases, and eat-in deli and tables. You will find lots of foodie gift options here. Plenty of parking.”
