“I mean. Really. You’re in Charlottesville. Thomas Jefferson’s home is here. It’s beautiful. The gardens and views are overwhelmingly gorgeous. The history virtually oozes off the mountain and spills like lava down over everything. Just go there. There’s a kid-friendly house tour and a kids’ room with fun activities.”

“Great museum dedicated to the Pittsburgh-born artist. The museum also has special exhibits, a live music series worth checking out, and a good gift shop.”

“A visit to Charlottesville isn't complete without a stop at the Downtown Mall, one of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation. Ours contains a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants (many with outdoor cafés) housed in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street. Ice skate, enjoy a movie or play, or simply relax under magnificent oak trees along the red-bricked mall. Convenient parking in nearby garages makes a visit easy for guests of all ages.”

“brewery/distillery/restaurant/campground/indoor and out door bars/breakfast/brunch this is not your ordinary brewpub. Devils back bone is like the Disneyland of breweries. Plan on being there for a while because there's lots to see and do. the main structure is the restaurant and brewery. They have amazing beers. try a flight..choose 6 four ounce pours of their 16 draft beers for only 8 bucks. Some of my favorites from the food menu are the smoked deviled eggs, the fish and chips and the heartland bone dipper(its like a french dip sandwich). Next door is the distillery where they make their own rums and gins and serve them up in fancy cocktails. There is also a cigar and whiskey bar and a breakfast/coffee shop as well as an outdoor bar with fire pit and a smaller takeout only grill. Weekends they usually have a wait to sit inside”

“One of the great works of modern architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, is within an hour and a half drive. Also worth visiting is the architect's Kentucky Knob house, which is not far from Fallingwater. While in the area, if you are looking to do a scenic hike, visit Ohiopyle State Park.”

“Blue Mountain Brewery is an utterly wonderful place to spend an afternoon and, unlike most of the wineries, kids can enjoy this place as it has a full menu, plenty of run-around space, and stuff to keep one busy (corn hole and such) other than focusing on the brew. It's one drawback is that it's rather pricey, but we highly recommend this place.”

“Mount Washington has the best views of Pittsburgh, great restaurant and bar scene, hiking and all the conveniences of a neighborhood. If you're okay with hills this area is very walkable, especially along Grandview Ave which runs along the Monongahela River and offers some the best urban views in the US. For restaurants and nightlife head to Shiloh St. We recommend The Summit for delicious cocktails and small plates. If you're looking for fried zucchini and wings Redbeard's and Bingham Tavern are great. And for those looking for a *very* Pittsburgh experience, Sloppy Joe's has a great bar scene.”

“The university that TJ built. We are not biased or anything, but it’s the best university in the world. (We understand there are arguments for and against this claim.) But, truly, if you haven’t visited UVA, you should. The Lawn and Rotunda are historic and you’ll find them very beautiful and interesting, whether or not you are a ‘Hoo. Bring a picnic and a frisbee and hang out on the Lawn, gazing at the architectural genius of our third President. When you’re done, walk down to The Corner and enjoy the used bookstores, tons of restaurants and coffee shops, and soak in the vibe of this vibrant college town. We love Roots (yummy healthy bowls), Asado Wing/Taco, Boylan Heights (grass-fed burgers), and Mellow Mushroom for pizza.”
