“It's touristy but... it is one of the "to dos" on the North Vancouver list. Originally built in 1889, Capilano Suspension Bridge stretches 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. CLIFFWALK is the park’s newest attraction for adrenaline junkies – a cantilevered walkway clinging to the cliff high above Capilano Canyon. Treetops Adventure, seven suspension bridges through the evergreens taking you up to 100 feet (30m) above the forest floor, offers a unique squirrel’s eye perspective of the forest." Cliff House restaurant offers local fare, craft brews and BC wines with a view of the canyon. In December there are lots of Christmas lights and evening seasonal activities. ”

“A 50-minute drive from the guest suite, Lighthouse Park is located in West Vancouver and boasts forest trails and views of the ocean across to downtown. This is a great spot for a leisurely hike/walk that highlights some of the best the area has to offer. Stop along the drive back at Savoury Island Pie Company in West Vancouver for soup, sandwiches, and coffee - oh and pie :) ”

“Newly upgraded mall on the south side has lots of fashion, beauty, outdoor, sports etc options. Some are in the mall and then there is a Whole Foods and other stores & restaurants in an outdoor strip just west of the mall. Some high end shops, and lots of the usual chain stores too. If you cross Marine Drive to the North side there are less options but you can find The Gap, Banana Republic and The Bay there.”

“• Horseshoe Bay is a small community at the western end of the North Shore and home of the BC Ferries terminal. This community is perfectly suited to pedestrian traffic. Park your car and walk the few blocks that constitute the main street, choosing a restaurant that suits your taste. Many come to Horseshoe Bay just for the view. • Families with kids will enjoy the seaside playground, and everyone will enjoy the seaside deck chairs where you can take in the spectacular views. A popular tradition is getting fish and chips or a burger from one of the take-out restaurants and eating it in the park overlooking the water. Another is buying an ice-cream cone and wandering along the pier. ”

“Vancouver’s first tourist attraction opened in 1889 and has been thrilling visitors with its swaying bridge over a plummeting canyon ever since. The footbridge spans a 70-meter deep river canyon leading to an activity park filled with forest trails and a treetop walk through old-growth giants. There’s also a collection of totem poles and a transparent suspended platform known as the Cliffwalk. Also along Capilano Road, Capilano Salmon Hatchery is worth a visit (in fall especially) to spot flashing salmon as they try to swim upstream. The fish ladder, a series of staggered pools, allows fish to bypass Cleveland Dam. Underwater windows give visitors a look at their efforts. ”
