“Cades Cove is a popular 11 mile driving or biking loop that offers visitors the opportunity to see the beauty of the mountains as well as various kinds of wildlife. If exploring on foot is not for you, this is a great alternative. Consider stopping at the historic cabins and churches along the scenic drive to learn about the history of East Tennessee. There is a lovely hike off of the loop called Abram's Falls. Take a picnic or plan to swim in the pool at the base of the falls. Before entering the loop, plan to eat lunch at the picnic tables nestled in the tress. Several tables sit next to the bubbling river. Great for kids or for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. During weekends and the busy vacation season, plan 2 to 3 hours for the loop. There are some short cuts if you want to cut down on the drive time. Look for the signs.”

“The Arts and Crafts Community is the largest independent organization of artisans in the United States. As such it doesn’t disappoint in the diversity of crafts you can see when you visit. You’ll find a wide assortment of items from dulcimers to stuffed bears to ceramics. The artists often will talk with visitors and discuss the history of their craft. Each shop offers plenty of free parking. Finding the perfect souvenir to remember your Gatlinburg vacation is easy when you visit the Arts & Crafts Community. With over 100 artists and craftsmen, Gatlinburg’s Arts & Crafts Community is a living, breathing tribute to the history of Tennessee. The carvers, weavers, watercolor artists, casters, soap makers, potters, silversmiths and dozens of other artisans skillfully demonstrate their abilities before thousands of visitors. The community is located on an 8 mile loop road that’s designated a Tennessee Heritage Arts & Crafts Trail. The Arts & Crafts Community can be reached using the Yellow Trolley from downtown Gatlinburg.”

“Everything about The Pottery House Cafe and Grille exudes comfort -- from the cozy cabin-like exterior to dishes piled high with the best of Southern comfort food. Like stopping by a favorite aunt's home for a warm meal, you leave The Pottery House feeling full and cared for. Definitely worth the trip. Their impressively large menu offers something for everyone, including: Country appetizers like homemade potato chips, fried chicken livers, pimento cheese cup, spinach artichoke dip, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, and Tennessee black bean twisters. Soups are all served with warm bread from the bakery and include tomato basil, French onion, loaded baked potato, and whatever the soup of the day may be. If you’d like, you can order your soup served in a homemade bread bowl. Quiche and salads. Choices include quiche and a house salad, quiche and strawberry spinach salad, quiche with fresh fruit, and quiche with a bowl of soup. When it comes to salads, longtime Pottery House favorites include spinach muenster, chicken almond, and the chef’s selection of the day. Combos offer match-ups like soup with a country ham sandwich, soup with a chicken salad sandwich, and soup with a pimento cheese sandwich. If you’d prefer to build a combo of your own, that’s okay too. For example, you can easily make it a strawberry spinach salad and loaded baked potato. The restaurant makes it easy for you to customize. Other options include chicken tenders, grilled chicken breast, fried catfish, grilled garden panini, shaved country ham sandwich, grilled club, cheese steak sandwich, rib eye steak sandwich (topped with peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and melted provolone cheese), roast beef sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, pulled pork barbeque sandwich, fried green tomato BLT, and a chicken quesadilla wrap. Burgers are plentiful and feature black angus, potter’s, smokehouse, and pimento burgers. Specialties include the buttermilk chicken melt, spring chicken gumbo, vegetable plate, shrimp and grits, grilled salmon, praline grilled pork chops, bacon and blue chopped steak, and the Old Mill Sirloin. You can eat them as they’re served or add sautéed mushrooms, onions, peppers, or garlic for a small upcharge. Insider Tip: If you’re visiting the area, you might want to plan a quick trip back to your accommodations to drop off leftovers. The portions are so large it is likely someone in your party will have them.”

“Now in it’s sixth year of business Elvira’s Cafe has become the community’s favorite place to catch up and chow down. With an excellent team in the kitchen and some of the friendliest waitresses in Tennessee, it is easy to see why Elvira’s home away from home has become the place to be for home made food in a warm and inviting environment. You will be impressed. They use local ingredients and farm fresh food makes all the difference.”

“The Pigeon Forge and Sevierville Trolley System were established to bring mass transit to the two cities for the purpose of helping to keep the Smoky Mountain air clean for locals and visitors alike. It is probably the best way to see the sites of the area so that you do not have to pay attention to traffic and can just focus on looking for the fun. Our motto is, “Park your cares and ride with the bears!””
