“Try to make time to go to Arpoador to watch the sunset. Usually the water is crystal clear over there and you can have a night swim at the beach! ”

“Copacabana Beach. Prefer the beaches in Ipanema and Leblon, next posts. Although I recommend you to visit Copacabana once and drink a Brahma Chopp (local Brazilian draught beer - although it is not a draft beer, technically, as it is made in different local unpasteurized procedure) in the sidewalk kiosks, you should prefer the beaches in Ipanema and Leblon. Copacabana is too much touristic, there will be a lot of people interrupting you and trying to sell you all kind of stuffs, and sadly, there may be some opportunistic steelers. Avoid the restaurants in Copacana also, except for the bars in the Rua Bolívar, which usually have good appetizers and cold beers/chopps. ”

“I love the vibe of Leblon beach. It is not as crowded as Ipanema and Copacabana, and it´s at the foot of Morro dos Dois Irmãos. Try a Mate tea with lemonade for 5 reais, sold by guys walking with 2 big gallons”

“For me Leme is the best place to enjoy the beach in Rio if you don't want to go far. Relax in the sand and try our "mate limão" and "biscoito globo"”

“There are 4 beaches with diferent characteristics: for those who like surfing, hiking, beches, waterfall and home made food. During high season it gets crowded. Avoid it.”

“ Great beach far from the chaos of central Rio, or the crowded bustle of Ipanema. The protected beach at the eastern corner, by Morro de Pontal, is great for swimming and for surfing beginners/longboarders.”

“Secluded and reserved beach between São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca. Beautiful scenario, walk a short trail down on the rock to the beach. Easiest access is by car or taxi, rather complicated by public transport. It is also a great bike ride, however, recommended for slightly more experienced riders due to some possible parts of intense traffic, uphills and overall distance. Scenic drive there and back. Great surf spot. For climbers there are bolted routes just by the beach (best get there early in the morning). ”
