Príncipe Real, Lissabon - Bestu barirnir

“Principe Real is our neighborhood. I love the area due to the cute little parcs, good restaurants, cafes and classy shops. It is built on one of the 7 hills, so often you will suddenly have a great view either over towards Alfama or to the other side the River Tejo”

Botanical Garden
“Warning - it's quite neglected. Yet, precisely for that, you can feel as visiting the Sleeping Beauty's castle backyard. Every plant is a bit mysterious and nostalgic. You'll find charming spots like the butterfly-house or the bamboos alee. The botanical garden's staff is very friendly. You can read, take photos at your ease, listen to your favorite song, practice Tai-Chi, eat your snack. No worries.”

“It looks like an antiques shop and could very well be a museum, but it's a bar that opens late in the afternoon. You must ring a bell to get inside, and once you do you find one of the city's most authentic spots. There's a total of five rooms decorated with curious objects (miniature trains, toy soldiers, old mugs, etc. from the owner's private collection), to admire as you sip a cocktail. There's an extensive list of drinks, from cocktails to juices, to teas and Port Wine. You may also play pool in one of the rooms.”

“Probably one of, if not my favourite neighbourhood of central Lisbon. Slightly removed from the main drag but still in the middle of it all. Great restaurant and array of shops surrounding the main garden square and just of it. Go and explore and immerse yourself in the area around it. Just naming a few places such as: Embaixada, Casa Pau-Brasil, Cevicheria, Pavilhão Chines, Tapisco, Memmo, 2 quiosques on the square, etc etc, etc!”

Public Art
“It is only 1,9 km from hotel Vila Queirós. From Praça dos Restauradores, the funicular climbs up Calçada da Glória towards the Bairro Alto neighbourhood. It’s a fun ride, and in a couple of minutes you’ll be looking at Lisbon’s rooftops from the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara at the top of the hill.”

“All of Lisbon's lookout points are romantic, but none more than this one, looking over all of downtown towards the castle and the river. It's a landscaped terrace with busts of historical figures, a fountain, and kiosk cafés from where you may sit and admire the beauty of the city. Going up and down the hill next to the terrace is the Gloria funicular, and across the street is the bar of the Port Wine Institute, where you may sample all types of Portugal's famous drink.”

“A 'palacete' or small palace (very small as far as palaces are concerned), which was once home to a wealthy Portuguese family and has now been converted a series of small design shops and a restaurant. Great place to shopping, grab a bit or perhaps just a quick drink!”

“Good classic Portuguese food. Usually their fish is good if you're going out for dinner, but they also do brunches. Lovely to sit next to Praca das Flores. ”

“It attracts a cosmopolitan crowd to its modern Portuguese cuisine using traditional products. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the dining area is attractive. It’s almost always full, so booking is practically mandatory. ”

“CUISINE: Portuguese fusion • This restaurant was born in 2009, with a unique tasting menu, where the irreverent chef Ljubomir Stanisic shows his most authorial side, in original creations. In this laboratory of his, each dish is a voyage through Portuguese flavours – working more and more closely with national suppliers - and, for now, there are only 30 seats available for you to get to know it. Soon, with no set date yet, the 100 Maneiras moves to another number on the same street and is likely to bring some novelties with it - if there is someone who likes to surprise, it's Ljubomir Stanisic.”
