“This fabulous cultural institution combines a museum, a mansion and extensive gardens. Cutting-edge exhibitions, along with a fine permanent collection featuring works from the late 1960s to the present, are showcased in the Museu de Arte Contemporânea, an arrestingly minimalist, whitewashed space designed by the eminent Porto-based architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. The delightful, pink Casa de Serralves is a prime example of art deco, bearing the imprint of French architect Charles Siclis. One ticket gets you into both museums.”

Podem ainda desfrutar do restaurante e casa de chá e ainda ter a oportunidade de assistir a algum concerto ao vivo. Jazz, é frequente que aconteça lá.”

“The Oporto School of Architecture is located in a kind of terrace, over a cliff, overlooking the river Douro, having in-between a road with much traffic. The architecture of Álvaro Siza plays constantly with this contextual space, and interacts with it, placing ahead of the road four kind of “towers” that protect the building as a whole, but separated from each other not to hide the scenery and allowing the building to breathe. One of his remarkable works!”

“Located in the parish of Ramalde, the Prelada Manor includes the Prelada House and the surrounding garden. The landscape was entirely designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni. Until the early twentieth century, the Prelada Manor and House belonged to the Noronha e Menezes family. In 1903, the last owner, D. Francisco de Noronha e Menezes, donated the property to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto (a charity). This institution recently made an extensive overhaul that turned it into a cultural space. The garden, which has one of the largest mazes in the Iberian Peninsula, extends to the Via de Cintura Interna highway (VCI).”
