Beautifully presented, this ground floor two bedroom apartment will capture the imagination of those seeking a charming coastal retreat yet perfectly positioned right in the heart of this bustling historic town. Originally built as a Quaker meeting house in 1749, the interior has been skillfully designed to create a pure, pared-back style which is the epitome of understated elegance. Using a colour scheme of gentle whites and tranquil neutrals, there is a sense of flow and harmony throughout this apartment which will quickly ease you into a holiday mindset. The open plan layout has a sophisticated feel with sofas and chairs in natural tickings and linens along with lovely touches and ambient lighting, while the sleek, monochrome scheme of the kitchen and dining space effortlessly blends together the overall look. The two bedrooms (one double, one single) continue the theme with high quality finishes and super comfortable mattresses where rest will come easily after a day of fresh salty sea air and relaxed days wandering the characterful streets and closes of Berwick upon Tweed. Accommodation Access is via a secure entry system and the apartment sits on the ground floor. Open plan living/dining kitchen featuring:- Sitting room with double sofa and two armchairs, flat screen TV with integrated DVD, small selection of DVDs and books. Kitchen with high quality units and white granite finishes, single electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, large fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher, integrated washer/dryer. A selection of cookery books are provided. Dining space with seating for three. Bedroom one - 4’6” double bed with double mattress and luxurious memory foam topper for extra height and comfort, chest of drawers, side tables, armchair. There is an in-built cupboard with hanging space in the hallway directly off the bedroom. Bedroom two - with 3’ single bed, side tables, chest of drawers. Bathroom - bath with shower over, heated towel rail, basin and WC. Wi-Fi and mobile coverage Wi-Fi is provided. Unfortunately due to the thickness of the walls, mobile reception is poor in the apartment but good reception can be found at the front access door of the apartment. Heating Electric central heating throughout the property. Guest amenities The beds are made up with high quality Egyptian cotton bed linen, and luxurious mattresses and toppers. A hair dryer is supplied in the master bedroom. Luxurious bath sheets and hand towels are provided for all guests. Au Lait guest toiletries are provided. Babies and children Children permitted over the age of 12 only. Dogs The apartment is not suitable for dogs. Parking There is no private parking provision but ample on-street parking nearby or two local car parks are free to use with a resident's parking permit (which will be left in the property for guests’ use). There is also a 24 hour car park which is free to use 250 metres away from The Apartment. Transport Berwick-upon-Tweed is on the main East Coast line and the apartment is within walking distance of the station and good local amenities so a car is not necessary to enjoy the immediate area. Smoking Smoking is not permitted in any part of the apartment or building. Outside space Please note the property does not have any private outside space, however there are plenty of lovely spots for relaxation within easy walking distance including the Elizabethan walls with panoramic views of the Tweed estuary, the beaches, the river walks and the town’s recently renovated parks. Guest privacy This is a double glazed ground floor apartment within a newly renovated building comprising ten other apartments over three floors. It sits in a central location with excellent amenities on the doorstep. Web details The property details have been prepared in good faith and we make every effort to ensure that the details offer an accurate representation of the property, its furnishings and facilities. We will inform you of any significant changes at the time of booking or as soon after as possible if you have already booked, but shall not be liable for any minor changes, or insignificant inaccuracies in the description and information contained therein.
Sitting just off the A1, the Apartment is perfectly located for short breaks or longer stays throughout any season and provides an excellent base to explore the wider Northumberland and Borders area. With the main East Coast Rail Line running through Berwick it is also an ideal car-free destination served by good local services. Sitting just a five minute walk from the town centre, the property benefits from excellent amenities right on the doorstep. In one direction, you will find a selection of characterful shops on Castlegate including a book shop, an antique centre, a deli and a fantastic vintage shop, as well as ‘Pier Red’ where you can sip a rich espresso whilst browsing art works and collectibles by popular Northern artists. Also look out for their regular jazz evenings where you can unwind to the smooth, mellow sounds of talented local musicians. A walk in the other direction will take you to Marygate, the town’s main street where you will find a mix of high street names along with local traders. Other small independent names and quirky shops can be found around the cobbled lanes and closes of the historic old quarter, as well as Hide Hill shops and cafes for a coffee and cake stop. There is a good Antique Centre and gift/interior shops on Bridge Street including one or two great eating spots - Audela for incredible cakes and Gasparo for hearty Italian fayre. Two large supermarkets including a Marks & Spencers food outlet sit on the edge of town. The area has a rich food heritage and there is something to cater for all tastes and budgets here from tasty fish and chips on the promenade to cosy pubs, characterful cafes or bistro restaurants such as The Maltings Kitchen serving tempting light-bites or a pre-theatre dinner. Alternatively, why not pop the wine in the fridge and arrange for a platter of seafood to be delivered straight to your door by the Berwick Shellfish Company - oysters reared in the clear North Sea beds of Lindisfarne, lightly smoked kippers from traditional local smokehouses, or perhaps some freshly dressed lobster or langoustines - perfect for a romantic evening-in! With its rich history, charming Georgian architecture, vibrant cultural and arts scene, golden beaches, superb wildlife, extensive leisure opportunities, as well as links to long distance walking and cycling routes, the whole area is quite simply packed with interest. Walk the outstanding Elizabethan walls of the Old Town taking-in ancient bastions, watchtowers and gun batteries - testament to Berwick’s turbulent past defending England from the Scots. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the coast and Tweed estuary before a visit to the Hawksmoor-designed Berwick Barracks with three separate museums showcasing its military history, as well as part of Sir William Burrell’s art collection. Next follow Berwick’s Lowry Trail and discover the cobbled streets and seaside scenes depicted in the paintings of the great ‘matchstick men’ painter who was captivated by the town and the area. If that sparks your creative side, why not spend an afternoon out-and-about drawing and painting under the tuition of a renowned local artist. Berwick has a thriving arts scene at the centre of which is the charming Maltings Theatre which hosts a packed diary of theatre, cinema, dance, comedy and music. There are also a number of galleries in the town, including the Watchtower which hosts a diverse number of events, guest artists and musicians. For something a bit different, take a boat trip from Berwick upstream to Paxton House, a superb Adam mansion which is home to the largest private gallery of any country home in Scotland with an extensive collection of paintings dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, many of which have been loaned by the National Galleries of Scotland. The town hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Riding of the Bounds in May which follows the ancient tradition of riding the town’s boundaries to guard against thieving Reivers; the Seaside Festival in August which includes street entertainers, Punch and Judy, live music, and sandcastle competitions; the Food and Beer Festival in September which is a mouthwatering opportunity to sample all the region’s superb produce; and the Film and Media Arts Festival, the largest of its type in the region. The area has over 26 miles of fantastic beaches just made for lazy picnics and outdoor adventures. Spittal beach is popular with families with wide golden sands, an attractive promenade and fun splash park, while Cocklawburn, Goswick and Cheswick beaches all sit close by. The stunning beach at Bamburgh is a also a must-visit, sitting just a short 20 minute drive from Berwick. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is about a 20 minute drive from Berwick, only accessible by a causeway at low tide. A designated National Nature Reserve, this tiny, picturesque island is often described as ‘The Jewel of the Northumberland Coast’. It is an overwhelmingly mystical place, home to the evocative remains of a ruined eleventh-century priory, a beautifully restored castle and the infamous Lindisfarne Mead. There is excellent bird watching on the Tweed estuary around the town and also further afield at St Abb’s Head and the Farne Islands - home to a resident colony of grey seals in addition to an impressive array of birdlife including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and terns. There are two golf courses close by; Magdalene Fields five minutes from the town offers superb views of the famous Elizabethan walls, the cliffs leading into Scotland and the iconic castles at Bamburgh and Holy Island. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles south of Berwick, Goswick is a highly-regarded links course selected as an Open qualifying course. For a city day out, Berwick Station is about a 10 minute walk from the apartment offering an easy day trip to the magnificent sights of Edinburgh, just 45 minutes journey by train.

Lovely room in beautiful Berwick-upon-Tweed town. Walking distance from shops, train station, tourist attractions, beach and the golf course. The bedroom on offer is a single bedroom with a pullout bed that turns into a double, the price is for a single room so please don’t expect to have the same standard of a double room for the price paid. Towels, hairdryer, bedding provided - bring your own toiletries. Note: Gingie our friendly cat and Pandora our rascal Labrador are part of our family.
PLEASE NOTE: the price is for a SINGLE bedroom with pullout bed that turns into a double. The price is for a single bedroom occupancy but happy to accommodate a couple sharing the pullout bed AT NO EXTRA COST as long as you understand that this is completely out of kindness as you are only paying for a single person’s occupancy. PLEASE, keep your expectations realistic that this is ideally a single room hence the price as double rooms in town will cost you more!
Train station, town centre, local shops and tourist attractions, the landscape is the best mixture between country and sea. Escape the hustle and bustle and enter a world of tranquility and calm with a cosy getaway at our sea view luxury lodge. With stunning views and a quiet atmosphere Eyemouth is positioned on a dramatic headland 8 miles north of Berwick. It’s attractions include shops, restaurants, beach and a harbour. It’s a couple of mins drive to Coldingham Bay and St. Abbs which we look onto from our lodge and benefit from the most amazing sunrises and sunsets.
Our Willerby Clearwater lodge (40/20 ft) is perfect for a family, couples or group of four. You’ll find everything you need including double glazing, central heating and fireplace, well equipped fully self-catering kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine (dryer), dishwasher. 2 bedroom, master en-suite (shower) walk in wardrobes in both bedrooms. Twin room (full size single beds) main bathroom with bath and shower. Outside has full wrap-around decking with outdoor furniture and parking for 2 cars.
We visited Eyemouth this year and fell in love with the place immediately, the beautiful coastline and beaches are idyllic. The town is a seaside resort and working harbour with many tourist attractions to keep you entertained all year round. It’s infamous for the local seals and dolphins which we have spotted several times throughout the summer from our decking. The local restaurants and coffe shop have brilliant reviews on trip advisor for you to check out, our favourite ones being Giacopazzi’s, Rialto and Oblo. If you have time, would recommend a short drive to St. Abbs to sample the fresh seafood at Ebbs Carr cafe.

Stunning secret cottage located just steps from Berwick's most vibrant street. Bridge Street is home to 3 pubs, 3 cafés and numerous restaurants. Next to the two-storey smithy (a former artists studio) , you'll find hidden steps opening up to a large garden complete with free-range chickens. The Smithy is an oasis of peace nestled in the centre of the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Dogs are welcome to stay; the chickens are kept in a separate space so that curious canines aren't tempted :)
The smithy is a warm open-plan space with a semi-industrial feel. Guests have the entire space to themselves, full central heating, kitchen, double oven and luxury bathroom.
There's a vegan cafe directly opposite the front door. It's a 15-minute walk to the beach, a 5-minute walk to the river and a few steps from Berwick's trendiest street which has plenty of live music, art galleries, restaurants, a charcuterie and organic/vegan shops. Further afield, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle (the venue used for Hogwarts in Harry Potter) and Bamburgh Castle are definitely worth a visit.

Surrounded by the grounds of the Paxton House Country Park, this listing is for one single bedroom which can be taken individually or with the double bedroom listed, with the same picture, as 'luxurious country cottage'. The double room can of course be booked without the single if wished.
This listing is for an additional bedroom which is available with the double bedroom listed separately, but can be taken individually. There is an adjoining shower/bathroom with loo or,if both bedrooms are booked, there is another shower and loo at the foot of the spiral staircase. Bathrobes provided.
Dene Cottage is not ideal for those yearning for city excitement. think birdsong, breeze in the trees, the sound of a small stream chattering past nearby. And very occasionally distant partying at Paxton House....

This little Seaside Stay is a semi attached home only 200 yards from Eyemouth Bantry and beach. It is just seconds away from all local amenities. It’s a cosy little apartment with two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds which can be pushed together to form a king sized bed. The kitchen and bathroom have been recently refurbished into modern, clean, airy spaces. You can use the back garden which is closed off with fences, gates and features a small decking area.
Our neighbourhood and street is generally very friendly and quiet. However we must add that the flat is situated on Albert Road which is the road cars use to access the high street/town centre. Also, if you aren’t from a seaside town- please be aware that you will soon get used to the noise of the local seagulls.

A traditional shepherd’s hut with a modern twist, surrounded by native hedging with uninterrupted views over open countryside. This cosy retreat promises to let you unwind in country style. You can put your feet up in front of a toasty log burner after a day exploring or watch the sunset while barbequing in the evening… and when the night falls, the dark starry skies here are sensational, just the thing before snuggling up in a luxurious double bed, listening to the calls of the tawny owls.
We believe at the Shepherd's Rest that your holiday with us is an opportunity to unwind, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and reconnect with them. So we don't supply Wi-Fi on site (although a 4G signal is available) and in the Hut we supply a radio. We don’t supply a TV or DVD player as way of a digital detox. We supply plenty of books and games in the Hut for you to read or play, so you can have time to relax, unwind or even be inspired! The Kitchen area in the Hut has the following facilities : fridge, belfast sink for dishwashing, microwave oven, single induction hob, electric kettle for making hot beverages and there is also a gas BBQ for alfresco cooking. On site facilities consist of three shared additional Huts, two with flushing toilets & washing facilities, the other cabin has a mains electric shower. They are always pristinely presented and beautifully decorated. There is a kitchen building, which has a large sink with hot and cold water, tourist information leaflets, free range eggs for sale, hairdryer and a table and chairs. Cars remain in the adjacent secure car park, and we do not accept dogs. As we have a small farm, you are welcome to meet our animals, including sheep, pigs, hens and ponies, along with viewing wildlife such as deer, buzzards, lots of farmland birds, foxes and badgers.
We are fortunate enough to live on a small farm in Foulden, a rural village in the eastern Scottish Borders, just 5 miles from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and its mainline train station. It is a secluded quiet location, free from traffic jams and suburban noise, allowing you to unwind and relax with just the sounds of wildlife and farm animals as a backdrop. We are close to some fabulous beaches, Coldingham and Cheswick being our particular favourites, magnificent castles and stately homes including Floors Castle, Manderston and Paxton House. Nearby Ayton, is home to The Hemelvaart Bier Café, a trendy continental style bier café bar which hosts live music, film and comedy events. The Scottish Borders is a beautiful, relatively undiscovered region, the gateway to Scotland, convenient for Edinburgh, the Lothians and North Northumberland. We started our family farm here in 2003, built our own farmhouse and transformed the land into a nature-friendly grassland farm, planting diverse traditional hedges for wildlife corridors and encouraging biodiversity. By grazing our sheep and Scottish native breed ponies on a non-intensive system, the wildlife here has flourished enormously over the years. We enjoy a huge variety of small birds, from robins, yellowhammers, wrens, house sparrows, tits and woodpeckers to buzzards soaring high on the thermals. The summer is very special, with the return of swallows from Africa and skylarks hovering way up in the sky, singing their hearts out! In the autumn and winter, fieldfares and huge flocks of migrating geese pass through. At night, we are lucky that there is no light pollution, allowing fantastic stargazing opportunities – you may hear barn and tawny owls too! In the spring when we are lambing, you can see the lambs with their mums, exploring their brand new world. You can also see groups of deer, pheasants, badgers, foxes and hares on the farm.

For those seeking a more sophisticated take on the coastal look, this chic harbourside apartment positioned in the very heart of the bustling coastal town of Eyemouth will be a super choice. With the charming 13th century fishing port directly opposite; wide golden sands just a gentle stroll away; Giacopazzi’s award winning ice-cream shop right next door and Oblo bar and bistro just around the corner - what’s not to love! The overall scheme is contemporary but with natural textures, calming neutrals and white louvred shutters which evokes a more subtle coastal feel. On the first floor, the apartment opens into a dining area with glass roof light which floods the space with warmth and sunshine. A smart geometric rug adds a modern twist. French doors lead out to a tiny deck with cafe table for a morning cappuccino. The kitchen has been inspired by the look of a stylish Italian coffee bar with a Nespresso machine providing the finishing touch. The sitting room with wood burner combines very smart furnishings in a soft grey and white scheme which feels light and fresh in summer and toasty warm in winter. A ceiling mounted hanging chair adds a fun touch and is a cosy spot to curl up with a good book. The three double bedrooms, each with flatscreen TV, have an opulent boutique feel, and a small snug at the top of the second floor has two foldaway single chair beds which are ideal for children. Finally a jacuzzi bath in the family bathroom may just finish off a perfect seaside day! Accommodation The property sits on the first and second floor accessed via a small rear courtyard and stone steps. First floor Access door leading into an inner hall. Outside storage Secure outside storage is available for bikes, dive kit and outdoor gear. Parking Guests can temporarily park close to the property to unload and load. Free parking is available in a nearby public car park on Harbour Road. Further information will be provided with the booking confirmation. No smoking The property is strictly no smoking. Note - the last three images are area shots of the beach and the harbour. They do not represent the views from the property.
Eyemouth’s High Street has a good range of local shops, including a delicatessen, several fishmongers, an excellent butchers shop and bakery and two Co-op supermarkets for those everyday essentials. Hammond Charcuterie on Mason’s Wynd for artisan speciality meats also comes recommended. For eating-out, you can enjoy supremely fresh fish and chips from award winning Giacopazzi’s which sits right next door or choose from the dizzying choice of ice cream freshly made every day on the premises. Oblo bar and bistro sits just around the corner for a crisp glass of wine or cosy lunches or suppers. Eyemouth has been a fishing port since the 13th Century. Today, as well as being home to a fishing fleet of about 80 boats, the harbour is also the base for a diving school, boat trips around the coast and exhilarating rides in a high-powered RIB. For those who prefer their holidays more relaxed, Eyemouth has a delightful sandy beach for walking, sandcastle building or just relaxing with a book. The stunning East Berwickshire coastline also provides superb walks along the 32 miles from Lamberton to Cockburnspath. For a little bit of education and history, pay a visit to Gunsgreen House on the opposite side of the harbour, once described as a ‘splendid palace built by a smuggler’! Built in 1753, today it offers the chance to learn more about the life of ‘merchant’ John Nisbet through its interactive tours of the house, museum and cellars. Children can dress up as a smuggler, explore hidden tunnels, hide in barrels and discover the famous ‘tea chute’! This area is a wonderful source of inspiration for art lovers where you will be drawn to the shifting colours of the seascape and can enjoy happy afternoons browsing pretty local galleries around this area. For those looking to explore their creative side, art classes can be arranged with local artists. The gentle bay at Coldingham Sands has a lifeguard on duty through the summer season, and a rocky shore at either end provides an ideal spot for dabbling in the rock-pools. The area is much favoured by families and offers lovely golden sands just right for beach-cricket, volleyball or kite-flying. Surfing and bodyboarding is popular here and the St. Vedas Surf Shop nearby can provide rental and instruction. The area has a beach cafe, toilet facilities, and plenty of parking and there is a lovely family-friendly walk over the headland to the pretty fishing village of St. Abbs where thousands of seabirds can be spotted along the way. For golf fans, Eyemouth’s golf club is just minutes from the house and boasts a sixth hole voted as “Britain’s most extraordinary golf hole.” There are a number of other well-regarded courses nearby including links courses at Goswick and Dunbar. Eyemouth is an ideal base for exploring the miles of deserted golden sands and secluded rocky coves that make up the stunning Berwickshire and Northumberland coastline. The cliffs at nearby St. Abbs, a designated Nature Reserve, are the prime breeding and nesting grounds for thousands of seabirds, and seals are also a common sight here. To the south, some of our favourite spots nearby include the stunning beach at Bamburgh, miles of pristine sand, popular for walking, riding and surfing and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. This tiny, picturesque island linked at low tide to the mainland, is an overwhelmingly mystical place, home to the evocative remains of a ruined eleventh-century priory, a beautifully restored castle and the infamous Lindisfarne Mead. The magnificent city of Edinburgh is a very easy day trip either an hour by car or 45 minutes by train from nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed.
