Located at the foot of the Quantock Hills, within the curtilage of Gothelney Hall (a beautiful Grade I listed farmhouse, family home and working farm), the Stableblock is a recently and lovingly restored space which can accommodate up to 4 people for cosy, romantic & family friendly retreats in the heart of the countryside. Eat, Drink, Do.
In the heart of the English countryside and at the foot of the Quantock Hills, Gothelney Hall and the land on which it stands has been settled on as far back as 1026. Referenced "Godelege" (Good Meadow) in the Doomsday Book, and renamed "Gothelney" ('open fields') in Anglo Saxon times the land here has been farmed for over a thousand years. Its current guardians, we are in the midst of a process of renovation of the Hall and its outbuildings, the Stable Block being the most recent (and completed) example. We offer its spacious, yet warm and characterful environment for your exclusive use during your stay.
Owing to the large number of visitors we encounter on their way too or from Cornwall we are available for 1 night stays. But please please consider extending your trip, this is a worthy destination in its own right - hunker down by the log burner and play board games in December, or enjoy exploring the farm and fresh air in the warmer months. We'd like to think this is the idyllic rural retreat rather than one night stopover!

Our place is close to : M5 Junction 23 ; to the Mendips - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ; to two Nat. Nature reserves; to the coast (Burnham on Sea; Weston); to Glastonbury, Wookey Hole, Cheddar, the Quantocks. Great pubs and churches (and the crematorium) are minutes away. You’ll love our place because of the peace, the walking and cycling, the areas of character and historical/ geographical interest. Good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers.
Our former school is a long, stone (blue lias) building in a very quiet part of a quiet village. We are next to the church and churchyard on one side. We’ve lived here for 34 years and our children have all grown up and moved out. Doing Airbnb and occasionally hosting foreign students allows us to feel justified in staying, perhaps even into our dotage. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden, to make use of the snooker table and jukebox or to join us in our living room. We are always ‘in residence’ when guests stay but it’s fine, too, for guests to see us only on arrival, for breakfast and for saying goodbye! PLEASE NOTE: as of July 2019, we’ve somehow become dog owners. A dachshund/terrier (8 months old [July 2019]) has charmed her way into our home. She’s exceptionally placid - friendly, if a little shy.
Pawlett is a quiet village but with plenty going on. The Village Hall is extremely busy, being the venue for a range of popular activities and events, from Bridge to Keep Fit , from Art Classes to dog training! The Pavilion is the Centre for sport boasting two football pitches, an artificial cricket pitch, an enclosed 5-a -side pitch, skateboard ramps, a skittle alley and, recently added, outdoor gym equipment. The sole shop at the moment is a popular hairdressers.

The Potting Shed is part of the original Gardners Buildings of a large country house. Beautifully updated to provide a truly snug and romantic place to stay. A log burner is the focal point of the lounge/living area as well as exposed wooden beams and stonework. Wifi, Smart TV and all you will need for a memorable get away. Well fitted kitchen with fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Double bedroom, shower/WC. Ample Parking. We want to make your stay cosy, comfortable and enjoyable.
We want to welcome you to our 'Potting Shed' which is a beautifully restored cottage-like place to stay. We have included all we can to give you home-from-home comforts in peaceful country surroundings. We offer a welcome pack when you arrive, logs and coal for a cosy fire and there is free Wifi (just in case you want to contact the outside world) ! We are very flexible so please ask if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable or anything that you need. Outside the Potting Shed is a table and chairs for you to sit and have your morning coffee and a small BBQ. As well as this there is a larger grass area with BBQ and seating for the use of guests located just across from the parking area. Or if you would like a little walk you can wander across the grass area of the walled garden and through into our apple orchard with a seating area looking out across the Somerset Levels towards Cheddar Gorge - if you come in September you are welcome to try the different varieties of apples. There is ample parking outside the Potting Shed which is set in the country garden of a large rural house in Chilton Polden, a village just below the Polden Hills. On the next door property is a cafe serving homemade food and delicious coffee and cafe which can be accessed via the wooden gate and across the car park. Down the driveway from the cafe is a gym which guests can book in to and use on a pay-as-use basis. There is also a nails and massage parlour on the gym/cafe complex. The village has a well-stocked grocery store for all your food and drink needs, a post office and 2 pubs within walking distance. If it's the countryside you like then there is Shapwick Heath and Ham Wall Nature Reserve (10/15 mins), Cheddar Gorge or the Quantock Hills (30 mins) or the sea at Minehead (45 mins), or simply go down on to the Somerset Levels for some fantastic walks around the area. The village is on the Somerset Cycle route so an idea place to stay during a cycling break to see the wonderful Somerset Levels or take the challenge of the steep climb up Cheddar Gorge. The near town of Street (5 miles away) boasts the large retail outlet of Clarks Village if you are in to shopping. A file with information of local places to visit is available in the Potting Shed along with tourist information leaflets.

An affordable and peaceful stay in the heart of Somerset; a great location to explore the South-West. Wall Eden Farm has been in the family since 1927; in 2002 we diversified from being a dairy farm to a unique farm holiday setting, offering you a mix between luxury accommodation and the great outdoors! In addition, what makes us really unique is access to our range of fun outdoor pursuits and massage therapies as well as a real taste of Somerset living. Otters Bank boasts a large living area, spacious kitchen with dining area and three bedrooms: one double and two twin bedrooms. Recently added to keep you cosy during the winter months we have our brand new log burner. French doors open onto your own private veranda with outside dining area and a generous parking area. Inside, you'll also find a wet-room and seperate bathroom. Just 10 minutes from Burnham-On-Sea and 30 minutes from Bristol, why not use us a base to explore the local area and see what Somerset really has to offer? Whilst staying at our award winning site, you will also have full access to a range of facilities available including action packed activities, a farm shop, pamper pod for on-site treatments and hot tub/sauna facilities. You may also want to take advantage of our fishing lake or a canoe trip down the River Brue. Why not enjoy a family get together, an adventure-weekend away or some well deserved rest and relaxation with us? We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of heaven.
Each of our lodges and pods have been hand built and customised by the team here at Wall Eden Farm. Each one varies in design and layout, but all are designed with comfort in mind. Every cabin and pod is fully equipped with everything you should need during your stay! We're a family run business so customer service is always at the forefront of everything we do! Enjoy a countryside retreat to enjoy the wonders of Somerset!
You can access the local village by car or on foot - just a short walk along the River Brue! The local village boasts a range of pubs and a delicious award-winning cider farm! Our favourite pub is a 3 minute drive away called the Crossways Inn offering amazing food and great ales! We are also only a short drive away from the picturesque town of Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater (home to the famous winter Carnival!). Why not use us as a base to explore further into Somerset and visit the smallest city in the UK - Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Weston-super-Mare, Glastonbury, Clevedon (home to scenes from ITV's Broadchurch), Taunton and Bristol!
