Nature Preserve
“he Paros Park deserves a ‘top 10’ article by itself, as there are innumerable reasons why you should visit. The natural, unspoiled rock formations that are a great sample of Cycladic beauty are one. The walking paths that introduce you to the beautiful nature on the island all year round are another. If you visit during the summer you should definitely have a swim at the gorgeous beach of Monastiri (AiYannis), or watch a film for free under the stars at the open movie theater Cine Enastron. During the yearly festival of the Park (June-October) a number of jazz, classical music and traditional Greek concerts and fascinating cultural events also take place. The Cycladic monastery of Ai Yiannis Detis and the Museum of the Park with the permanent historic exhibition ‘The Island of Paros through the Russian cartography 1770-1774’ are also well worth a visit.”

“Located 5km south of Parikia, near the Monastery of Jesus of Woods, this valley is referred to as Petaloudes, which means Butterfly in Greek. Every year during the summer months, the valley is verdant and the Jersey Tiger Moths seem to wrap the entire valley which creates a truly breathtaking natural phenomenon.”

“ Paros is one of the top destinations for water sports enthusiasts in the world, especially windsurf and kitesurf. The ideal weather conditions on the island, and especially the northern winds, the well-known meltemi, have made the island of Paros a pole of attraction for Greek and foreign athletes, as well as for all the warm supporters of both sports. With many world wind / kitesurf championships in the modern sporting history of the island and with their international relay, Paros has now become an institution of its kind. The most famous and ideal beaches for windsurf and kitesurf in Paros are: Gold Coast, New Gold Coast (Tserdakia), Tsoukalia, Santa Maria and Punta. Most of them have modern beginners training centers and the equipment to rent.”

Beach
“Ten minutes around the bay from Parikia is what most people agree is the best beach on the island. With a crescent of white sand, pool-like waters and full waiter service, it’s a mystery why Marcello isn’t busier. The sea is so tranquil that the only thing that musters more than a ripple is the wake caused by ferries entering and leaving Parikia’s harbour in the distance. Children will have the time of their lives playing in these safe waters while parents and couples will be spellbound by the vistas over the glimmering sea, back to Parikia and its mountainous backdrop.”

“ The Mecca for Wind Surfers! Long and sandy beaches with beautiful swimming pool-like water and the best circumstances for Wind Surfing; you can also rent equipment here. This is where the yearly Wind Surfing World Cup takes place. There are several hotels and taverns and a nice little restaurant with Asian Food nearby! You go there easily by bus or with your own vehicle.”
