“Formerly known as Bucket Weld Forest Reserve, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is one of the oldest permanent forest reserves in the country. A welcome bit of lush greenery in the middle of a bustling metropolis, the 100-year-old forest reserve covers an area of approximately 11 hectares and is the only remaining tropical rainforest in the heart of the city. The nature trails here are well maintained, so it is worth including a visit here in your itinerary if you plan on visiting the KL Tower. A complimentary nature walk is available for those who purchase tickets to the tower’s observation platform. Opening Hours: 07:00 – 18:00 (free guided tours are available at 10:30, 12:30, 14:20 & 16:30) Address: Menara Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Puncak, Off Jalan P. Ramlee Tel: +603 2020 5448 ”

“Bukit Broga is one of the best places to hike within easy reach of Kuala Lumpur. It is only 400 metres high (1312 feet) and can be climbed in an hour. The hill is steep and challenging enough to get your heart pumping and lungs puffing. What’s more, it is about the only hill or mountain in Peninsular Malaysia which is covered with lalang grass, so the views from the top are excellent. Distance: Approx. 15min by car.”

General Travel
““Getting to Bukit Fraser” Unfortunately, the lovely hill resort of Bukit Fraser has no direct link to the capital, so it isn’t possible to visit by public transport. The nearest you can get is to take an hour and fifteen-minute train from KL Sentral to the town of Kuala Kubu Bahru, where you can then take a 45-minute taxi ride to the resort. This should cost around 80 MYR. By car is much simpler, although it again takes around two hours. On road 1, head directly north past Batu Caves (or stop off and visit them if you have time), and simply follow it all the way to Kuala Kubu Bahru. From there, it is a delightful drive through some wonderful scenery on the 55, which will take you directly to Bukit Fraser.”
