“Very easy to lose a day in the Alnwick Garden, impressively laid out and with lots to see and do. Bring lunch and picnic or there is a large cafe. Formal gardens, rose gardens, grand cascade waterfall, poison garden, bamboo maze, world largest Taihaku japansese cherry blossom orchard in the world (complete with swings)... Children can play in a smaller area of fountains, bring a towel and change of clothes for when they get wet not listening to you.”

“For those interested in history, Georgian landscapes and royal connections. The old hall is a ruin but the chapel remains in tact and is a stunning and rare example of its type. The grounds are mainly woodland and include a riverside walk where otters kingfisher and dipper are often seen. Row deer can be spotted in the woods and over head red kite and common buzzard are regularly seen. The skyline walk takes you from Snipes Dene up onto the estate farm then back down into Westwood. They have two cafes one near the chapel and another in the centre of the estate in the converted stable block. There is a book shop, toilets, history room and nature room at the stables.”

Beach
“The park is lovely to walk through any time of the year, for years people have strolled the promenade & stopped to just admire the scenery, absorb nature or feed the ducks. There's an easy low level walk or stepper inclines if you want to run & add a bit more exertion. During the summer months (late May through to September) the paddling pool is very popular with families . There's also a skatepark, bowling green, tennis courts, crazy golf & children's playpark. ”
