    Nestled between the eclectic Bywater and the historic French Quarter, the Faubrough Marigny is a quaint historic neighborhood with brightly colored homes. This area was once the plantation of Bernard de Marigny, a wealthy Creole and political leader of old New Orleans. In 1806, he had his property subdivided and developed as a neighborhood. Many of the houses in this area are over 100 years old; some are much older. Frenchman Street, where the locals go to listen to jazz, is in the Marigny and close to our beautiful condo. Visit Buffa's a local bar and eatery around the corner or Port of Call for their burgers. And, the convenience store across the street has fantastic shrimp po-boys.

    Our home is one of four condos within an 1880s Victorian mansion that was converted in 2005. Josh and I live here with our two cats, who will stay on our side of the house when you visit. We absolutely love our neighborhood and hosting visitors to our beloved city. Much love and care has gone into making the Bywater Rainbow Room a comfortable and peaceful place where good vibes reign supreme. The bedroom features a small step down from the kitchen and boasts original hard wood floors, 16’ ceilings, a beautiful (decommissioned) fireplace, a spacious closet with hangers and shelves, a vanity/desk, and a queen size bed that comfortably sleeps 2. The private bathroom has a shower and is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh towels. You’ll feel like you’ve got the place to yourself as we use the back door, and you can come and go through the front, which walks out to a foyer that opens to a cozy porch with a swing and some cool doggies nextdoor. The foyer and front porch are also shared by upstairs residents. We have a French press and a tea kettle plus coffee, tea, and sugar to get you caffeinated. You’ll have to stroll over to Bywater Bakery or Satsuma for the fancy foamy stuff. Peruse the abundance of books in the library or watch a show on the Smart TV, which includes Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video. If you really wanna' live like a local, sit on the porch swing for sunset and chat with the passersby.
    Our neighborhood is lively and fun, filled with musicians, artists, and culture bearers galore! I honestly could not imagine living anywhere else. It feels like anything you could want is only a short walk away, from fun and funky vintage shops and the world's best 24-hour market (Mardi Gras Zone, baby!) to bars like Markey's, The Country Club, and Bud Rip's, and even live music venues like Bar Redux, Vaughan's Lounge, and Bacchanal as well as not-to-miss attractions like Studio BE and Music Box Village. We're only 5 minutes away from the Rusty Rainbow which will take you over to Crescent Park for some lovely running trails between the river and local blooms. It's a joy living in a place where folks say "good morning", "good evening", or "where y'at" when they pass each other on the sidewalk. There's always something new to see as many neighbors treat their homes like works of art; the colors of the homes alone make for Instagram-worthy snaps!

Just off the Zulu parade route with an inviting backyard/deck, steps away from the famous St. Charles streetcar line (main parade artery), and just MINUTES to countless downtown restaurants, venues, Lower/Garden Dist, Warehouse Dist, Canal St, and the French Quarter, this is pure NOLA living to the core!
    Location is what drew me to this home from the start. From my small neighborhood (Faubourg Livaudais, a part of the larger Central City neighborhood that borders the Lower/Garden District), I'm just a stone's throw from all the best that the city has to offer. The charm of the French Quarter and the live music in the Marigny on Frenchmen St are just a quick ride downriver through the Central Business District by streetcar, car or bike. The stately mansions and ornate cemetery in the Garden District and the boutique shopping along Magazine Street are even closer; a pleasant stroll across St. Charles Ave under the oaks will have you there in no time (5-10 minutes). A quick drive or ride share from here will have you on one side of town or the other before you can say "laissez les bon temps rouler!" The condo is doubly unique thanks to the loving renovation that my father and I have recently completed on it. Records indicate that the Craftsman-style house turned 100 years old in 2016, and we have taken great care in updating its amenities without taking away from much of its historic, turn-of-the-century charm. The interior and exterior paint is all new, the roof is new, the existing kitchen and bathroom have been thoroughly remodeled and a second back bathroom added for convenience. Lovely French doors divide the living room (with large flat screen cable TV and sofa bed) from the parlor (dining room seating for 4), which is in turn connected to the kitchen with a doorway and bar, giving the entire dwelling an airy, open feel. The updated kitchen has all new GE appliances, (including a dishwasher) and beautiful exposed brick chimney column. The bedrooms are cozy and light filled, with ample space for wardrobe and luggage. In the place of a more traditional front porch, the entry foyer provides a pleasant indoor/outdoor space for relaxation and contemplation. The beautiful new back deck is available to guests for BBQs or just some quality al fresco lounge time.

It was home to famous local musicians such as Professor Longhair and Buddy Bolden, and the site of the storied Dew Drop Inn. Central City has a proud Civil Rights legacy. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was founded here, and New Orleans' first voter registration drives were held in A.L. Davis Park. Years of steady reinvestment in the neighborhood, and particularly its Oretha Castle Haley Blvd corridor [a block north of my house], has created opportunities for working, shopping, cultural activities, entertainment, dining, and much more." I feel like I couldn't ask for a better home base for exploring NOLA, whether I'm headed uptown, downtown, or just checking out the surrounding neighborhood flavor.
  • Að dvelja á staðnum Cole var frábært! Hann var frábær tjáskiptur og hjálpsamur um leið og við bókuðum staðinn. Staðsetningin var frábær fyrir mig og systur mínar, nógu langt frá franska hverfinu til að lenda ekki í hringiðunni, heldur nærri 10 mínútna lyftutúr.   • Staðsetningin gat ekki orðið betri! Sérstaklega miðað við umferðina frá Essence Festival. Hvert sem við þurftum að fara, jafnvel á mikilli umferðarstíma tók ekki lengra en 10-15 mínútur að ná áfangastað. Rýmið var flekklaust og rúmin voru mjög þægileg! Hverfið var frábær alveg og fannst það öruggt! Eigandinn býr uppi. Ég heyrði hann aldrei og sá hann en hann var fljótur að svara spurningum eða áhyggjum. Ég myndi alveg mæla með þessu rými fyrir alla sem íhuga að heimsækja New Orleans!

  • Frábær staðsetning. Göngufæri við St. Charles St., götubílinn og veitingastaði. Góð heimasvæði fyrir frjálslegur frí frá New Orleans. Cole var frábær og mjög móttækilegur.

  • Staður Cole var alveg eins og honum var lýst! meðan við fengum ekki að sjá hann augliti til auglitis voru viðbrögð hans alltaf svo fljót! Staðurinn hans var á frábærum stað og hann var svo fallegur og hreinn og fullkominn fyrir okkur 4. Hann skildi meira að segja eftir okkur poka af kaffinu sínu sem hann hjálpar til við að búa til fyrirtæki og það var ljúffengt! Ef við erum aftur komin til New Orleans myndi ég hoppa á tækifærið aftur til að vera á hans stað! Einnig var það svo ótrúlega heitt þegar við vorum þar og AC Cole var svo fullkomin og hafði húsið gott og kalt meðan við vorum þar. Ég gæti ekki hafa beðið um betri fyrstu dvöl í NOLA.

  • Við höfðum mjög gaman af því að vera hérna fyrir stelpur ferðina okkar! Það var nógu nálægt því að það var fljótt uber en var í hverfi svo það var rólegt á nóttunni. Húsið var virkilega sætt og hreint þegar við komum inn. Ég myndi mæla með þessu húsi fyrir aðra!
