“ Sepolcreto of the Medici family. It hosts the graves of 50 members of the noble Florentine family. The Chapels are located in the Basilica of San Lorenzo but have an independent entrance behind the Basilica. In addition to the Crypt where the Medici are buried, the new Sagrestia, which Michelangelo built for the tombs of Lorenzo and Giuliano dei Medici, and the Cappella dei Principi, built starting from the seventeenth century as a mausoleum of the Medici, are part of the complex. A particular fact regards the imprisonment of Michelangelo who was detained there for some time”

“It is the symbol of the city and, for more than seven centuries, the seat of its government. Palazzo Vecchio bears extraordinary testimonies from all the highlights of Florence's history and art. From the remains of the Roman-era theatre preserved underground, we move on to the sumptuous environments of the monumental districts decorated by famous artists of the 15th and 16th centuries, finally arriving at the spectacular panoramic views of the walkway and the tower. Among the masterpieces in the building, the Judith of Donatello, the paintings of Bronzino in the Chapel of Eleanor and the Genius of Victory by Michelangelo. Loggia dei Lanzi is called that because the Guard house of Grand Duke Cosimo I, who gathered under the Loggia, was partly made up of lansquenets. The construction dates back to the period between 1376 and 1382; the loggia was used to house the numerous popular public assemblies and official ceremonies of the Florentine Republic in the presence of the people, Starting from the 16th century, this space was destined to house some masterpieces sculptural, becoming one of the first exhibition spaces in the world. Among the statues most important we find Perseus Benvenuto Cellini”

“Very important museum. Not only is it the largest (by extension and number of finds, not to mention the importance and uniqueness of the latter!) Archaeological Museum of Italy north of Rome, but together with that of Villa Gliulia, in Rome, it is the most important museum structure in the world for Etruscan civilization. It houses many unique works, famous and present in all the manuals of ancient art, both in the Etruscan and Greek and Egyptian fields, with absolute masterpieces in bronze, silver, ivory, gold, wood, ceramic and marble, as well as an amazing collection of Etruscan, Greek and Roman cameos and carvings, once part of the Medici-Lorraine collection, and one of the largest and most important numismatic collections in the world. It is also free if you present a ticket that includes entrance to the Uffizi. Highly recommended.”

“If you're a fan of Leonardo da Vinci, you'll probably want to stop in Vinci, his birthplace and spend an hour or two in this museum dedicated to Leonardo, the Inventor. It features full-scale models of his machines and inventions, and set within an historical context. The museum store is also fun, full of Leonardiano, from silk scarves to shopping bags and build it yourself kits.”

“The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is an imposing gothic church built on the site where the ancient Cathedral of Florence stood, the Church of Santa Reparata, whose remains are visible in the crypt. Visiting the Cathedral is free! The entrance to the Cathedral is free and for this reason, there are long queues to enter. Don’t worry, usually, the line moves quite fast. The number of visitors inside the Cathedral is limited mainly because of the noise that comes to be created in this place of religious worship; recently (from July 16, 2012) to improve the situation, the directors of the Duomo decided to oblige groups of more than 4 people to rent radios or audio guides (cost from 2 up to 2.50 euros per person) in order to reduce the noise of visitors and increase the number of persons allowed in every single moment. ”

“The Basilica of Santa Maria Novella was founded by the friars of the Dominican Order in the first half of the thirteenth century, becoming one of the most important religious and artistic landmarks in Italy. The celebrity of Santa Maria Novella during the medieval and Renaissance periods favored the concentration on the whole of very important works by artists of the caliber of Giotto, Brunelleschi, Masaccio, Michelangelo, Ghirlandaio, Botticelli and Vasari, just to name a few. This particular artistic and religious fortune has made the place inextricably linked to his works of art. These have been realized specifically for Santa Maria Novella.”
