“Buzz Lanikai is a great place to eat after a long day at the beach. It is directly across from Kailua Beach Park. It's a little place, However, the food is quite good and the staff is awesome. You can meet many Kailua and Lanikai locals here. If you like ice cream pies, they are very good. Parking is very limited in their lot, but there is ample parking across the street at the Beach Park. (Don't leave valuables in your car.)”

“There are actually two Kailua locations. One on the North end of Kailua Beach Park and the other in Kailua Town just as you enter Kailua from the Pali Highway on the North side of the road. They have the best muffins I have ever tasted! Get them before your excursions. The burgers are excellent.”

“The iconic Kalapawai Market, the original green store, is located right next to Kailua Beach and sells locally made sundries such as Island Bee Honey, Hawaii Cookie Kitchen cookies and Manoa Chocolate, as well as beach gear, snorkeling masks and reef-safe sunscreen. Kalapawai Café & Deli, in the heart of Kailua, is known for its sandwiches and housemade lilikoi bars and cookies. If you’re in town early, grab one of its vegan muffins, which sell out early in the morning.”

“This a great breakfast place. I love their banana pancakes and Omelets. The price is very reasonable and you get the large portions you need for a full day on the Island. One great benefit is that if they are crowded it is a very short walk to Kalapawai Cafe. Which brings me to my next favorite place: Macadamia Muffins!! ”

“The chef Jason is awesome. He is also a skin diver and the fish is fresh. He is a gourmet chef. Bring your own wine and Safeway is right next door.”

“Unique and popular for its Macadamian Nut Pancakes. Not a fan of pancakes? Boots and Kimo's homestyle cooking is just as delicious and worth a trip to try! The restaurant is a bit far from my AirBnB location, but is worth it if you plan to spend your day at Kailua Bay and do some hiking/water activities. ”

“Best coffee in Kailua town without the crowd. Local hangout and people watching spot to enjoy a great cup of joe. Food is ok but you're going there solely for the coffee. If it's during the afternoon, make sure to swing next door to Olive or Oliver Boutique shops.”

“This is the grocery store we shop at the most, followed by Target and Whole Foods, depending on our needs. Foodland wins out because of it's excellent deli, fresh & local produce, and good customer service. You could eat exclusively from their deli during a week's stay and eat sometime new and yummy every day.”

“This longtime bakery is run by a darling elderly couple who take pride in their delicious baked good and helpful service. Nothing here is particularly healthy, so give in to temptation and indulge in anything that looks tasty (and that's pretty much everything).”

“-Grab a poke bowl at times and cruise to the beach. Poke is a local staple. Fresh cubed ahi and you choose your sauce. YUM, it may sound weird, but if you love fish, def try it! They also have plate lunches that are really good and a great deal! Kim Chee cucumbers are one of our beach day staples. A little spicy, super delicious!”
