The museum presents a wide variety of permanent exhibitions for adults and children ranging from Prehistoric and Medieval Galway to the 1916 revolution, The Great War and sporting history through the GAA. Interactive exhibits include SeaScience for Children on the top floor and the 3D Pictorial Map display of Galway in 1651 on the ground floor. These informal sessions take place most days of the week and welcome all level of musicians from beginners to professionals. Not a bad spot to get a good Guinness either! Location: The Small Crane, Sea Road. 2 min walk. ”

“The Spanish arch, built in the 16th century, is one of the few places where you can see a piece of the wall that once used to encircle the city. Spanish traders would dock their boats and then pass through the arch to deliver their goods. Just beyond the arch sits Galway City museum. Worth a visit for anyone interested in Galway's history and Irish history in general. Upstairs there's even an interactive marine exhibit for kids. ”

“This 1820s building was originally as a courthouse and then the city's Town Hall. In the 1950s the building was converted into a cinema and was where I had my first date !! In 1996 it reopened as the new Theatre and the opening event was the world premiere of the Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh.”

“Famous for their fish and chips. Almost a Galway landmark. And for good reason. Can't get fresher fish than that unless it's still swimming! ”
