Ousel Falls is named after the Ousel Bird (Cinclus mexicanus), more commonly known as the American Dipper. This hike is rated as easy and is 1.6 miles total on an out and back trail. ”

“This is a great hike leading to a few beautiful mountain lakes. It is a perfect half-day hike and is generally pretty easy but be warned that the last bit is steep, and you are at fairly high elevation. To get to the trailhead, drive west onto Highway 64 from the junction of highway 191 and travel approximately 9-10 miles. Continue until the end taking a right immediately before the Moonlight Basin gate onto Beehive Basin Road. Follow this windy road for two miles to the parking area and trailhead. ”

The trail is primarily used for hiking, fly fishing, horses, and snowshoeing and is best used from June until October. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.”

“This is hiking trail starts out with a wide manicured path about a mile or so to the falls. It is great for just about anyone of any fitness level or age. The falls are spectacular! The trail also links up to Yellow Mule and Second Yellow Mule for more of a true hike. At the parking lot you can also link to a Ralph's pass and Hummocks trail, a nice loop where you can take dogs. ”
