“The Münster is a cathedral in the middle of the city which was not bombed during the second world war. Monday - Saturday there is a beautiful market around the cathedral where local farmers sell their goods (highly recommended!). If you make it there you should eat a "Lange rote" that´s typical for Freiburg! (not for vegetarians) :) ”

“Like you would expect, there are tons of restaurants in Freiburg where you can eat traditional German cuisine. If you’re in the mood for a pub-style atmosphere, snag a booth at Schlappen, which is located in the heart of the Old Town. With a variety of beer, whiskey, wine and even absinthe (yes – absinthe!), Schlappen is the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Traditional German food, pizzas, pasta and salads are on the menu as well!”

“Within the Old Town, check out Freiburg’s indoor food market, Markthalle. It’s the place to go to sample different international cuisines. I always enjoy walking around a food market when exploring a new city. If you’re looking for other great markets in Europe, check out Barcelona’s food market, Amsterdam’s indoor food hall and Lisbon’s TimeOut Market.”

“There is a steep hill/park, Schlossberg, in the middle of the city center that offers amazing views of Freiburg and the Black Forest in the distance. There are several benches at the top, which makes it a nice place to relax, read a book, hang out with a friend, etc.Following the short hike, grab a beer at Kastaniengarten, the beer garden that sits at the top. It feels like drinking in the clouds. It reminded me of drinking a beer in the Letna Beer Garden, which is my top recommendation for visiting Prague. An afternoon spent in a beer garden may be one of the best things to do in Freiburg – or any city!”

“Café Hermann is located in the bicycle station directly at Freiburg main station and offers a relaxed view of the hustle and bustle at the station and the Wiwili bridge from the small outdoor terrace. There is a weekly changing lunch menu prepared from seasonal and regional products, a French-influenced breakfast and a large selection of coffee and cakes. From 8 p.m. the bar also starts. Here you can have a great chill out of the day ”
