Dairsie Castle is a unique self-catered property which sleeps 14. Located close to St. Andrews (15 minutes drive) and Edinburgh (1 hour drive), it is an ideal setting for a holiday to explore the heart of Scotland.
First sited in the 12th Century, Dairsie has been the location of secret Scottish parliaments, military sieges, and safe haven for escapee monarchs (James VI and I in 1583). The castle became a ruin in the 19th Century. In 1992 it was bought and rebuilt by the current owner who worked hard to restore the castle to its original medieval character, with all the comforts of a modern family home. The Castle ‘The Dungeon' - On the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and ensuite bathroom. 'The Family Bedroom' - This huge master bedroom has 3 four-poster beds; 1 king-size, 2 large singles. The en-suite bathroom is complete with a stand-alone bath and window shutters, painted in the style of Hokusai. ‘The Spottiswoode (Upper Tower Room)’ - Named after one of the long-term residents of the castle, John Spottiswoode, the Archbishop of St. Andrews in the 1600s. This bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. ‘The Learmonth (Lower Tower Room)’ - Named after the family that owned Dairsie for a 100 years, before they sold it to Archbishop Spottiswoode in 1616. This bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. ‘The South Caphouse’ - A twin bedroom on the top floor at the end of the Gallery. It has a shared shower room with the North Caphouse bedroom, with a small compact shower unit. ‘The North Caphouse’ - This double bedroom is at the opposite end of the Gallery, at the top of the spiral staircase. It has a shared shower room with the South Caphouse Bedroom, with a small compact shower unit. The Great Hall – As the hub of the castle, with a dining table which can seat 12, and is surrounded by beautiful artworks and sculptures. There are two large sofas and a foot stool around the fire place for post-dinner relaxation. A Minstrel’s Gallery which over-looks the Great Hall which can be reached from a staircase behind the room. The Kitchen – The kitchen has all the usual culinary equipment and has a 2-hub Aga cooker. The room has a table and chairs and is large enough also to be used as a breakfast room. Behind the kitchen is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, and adjacent to the kitchen is a washroom. The Living Room – The living room is on the 2nd floor, situated next to the Family Bedroom. It is carpeted and has a TV and comfortable sofas. Next door to the living room is a small Toy Room which is filled with children’s books, toys and some board games for the evenings. The Gallery – The Gallery is a spacious area on the top floor of the castle and is where a lot of the castle’s artwork and antiques are displayed. It is a very bright and large space with good views of the surrounding countryside. Dairsie has 6 acres of grounds including a cop with a woodland walk down to the river Eden, a walled herb garden, an orchard and a large open grass area. There is an open garage, a watch tower and a large drive which can park a maximum of 15 cars. The castle's caretaker lives next door. It is a truly unique property seeped in Scottish history, and one which we welcome you to experience and enjoy!
There is so much to see and do in the local area! For golf enthusiasts, the famous Old Course in St. Andrews and Kingsbarns are both close by, whilst Carnoustie and Gleneagles courses are less than an hour away. For family fun, there is Craigtoun Country Park (Nature & Adventure Play Park), The Deer Centre, the Secret Bunker, and Deep Sea World. You can spend a day exploring St. Andrews, where you can find the old Cathedral and castle, go on a distillery and tasting tour at the Eden Mill, and walk along the West Sands beach. For some history, Scone Palace in Perth, and Glamis Palace near Forfar are a drive away. You could also spend a day exploring Edinburgh and all it has to offer. The Michelin-starred Peat Inn is also worth booking for a delicious meal.

I hope you will love my little cottage as much as I do. The cottage has been recently renovated and is full of quirky touches, the latest being my wine box stair case. I am sure you will enjoy the opulent black roll top bath but there is also a lovely rain head shower too. My place is close to family-friendly activities and great walks. The beds are super comfy and the place is warm and cosy! A good base for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
The house was built in 1760 and albeit it has been altered over the years I think it has maintained a rustic charm and inviting atmosphere. The cottage has a great wood burning stove which guests are welcome to enjoy so would suggest you put logs and kindling on your shopping list. There is also a super range cooker so if you are a bit of a whizz in the kitchen I am sure you will appreciate it. You will notice little nods to Alice in Wonderland all over Wonderland Cottage but particularly in the Alice Room and the newest addition which is a fantastic stair rail made by our local Newburgh Blacksmith. We can also accommodate extra guests in our Bell tent.
Newburgh has the first documented evidence of whisky making in Scotland, come and find out about its fascinating history at Lindores Distillery. You can book tours and at the weekends enjoy a drink in the fantastic Legacy bar overlooking the old Abbey ruins. If you are around on a Tuesday evening why not go along to the Bear Tavern and get involved in the very welcoming local singalong. Don't forget we offer Gourment dining at Wonderland but there are a couple of cafes in Newburgh for lunch time snacks and Perth and St Andrews have some great restaurants. Newburgh also boasts the gate to the Fife coastal path and offers fantastic walks and scenery with the river Tay only a 5 minute walk away.

A recent conversion of the former stables at Moonzie house in semi open-plan style, the location is secluded with lovely views, but very near the town of Cupar. It is only 20 minutes from St Andrews or Dundee and 1 hour by train or car to Edinburgh.
Artist owned, the studio is quirky and characterful with its spiral staircase and occasional vintage furniture. The studio will comfortably accommodate 4-6 people but up to 8 if complete privacy all round not an issue! There is one double bedroom downstairs, one twin bedroom upstairs, a double sofa bed in the main living area and an additional 3 single mattresses which can be set up on the mezzanine area. On the mezzanine you will find a television and DVD player and selection of DVD'S. There are various games, jigsaw puzzles and a selection of books for entertainment. The living space, in addition to sofa, armchairs and coffee table has a dining table and chairs. A selection of music CD's is available and can be played on the system which will also connect by blue-tooth or cable to your MP3 player - there is wireless internet though being a rural location the speeds are not very fast. A large double glass door/window opens onto a small terrace where there is a bench - a collapsible table and chairs which are kept in the hallway can also be taken outside. The main living space houses the kitchen area with sink, gas hob, electric oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is a drying rack on which to hang washing and an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is equipped with bath, shower, loo and basin, towels and a hairdryer. The studio has underfloor heating and hot water as and when required.
Moonzie is within easy reach of the East Neuk of Fife, a charming coastline peppered with small fishing and harbour towns. The beaches at St. Andrews are approximately 10 miles away and the wonderful Kinshaldy beach at Tentsmuir Forest around 8 miles. Cupar is home to several traditional pubs. Indian, Chinese, Italian food as well as and fish and chips and kebabs are widely available. There are four supermarkets, banks and convenience stores as well as several small independent shops. There are several world class restaurants in the area such as Ostlers Close Restaurant in Cupar, The Peat Inn at Peat inn, The Fish Restaurant and The Old Course in St Andrews and The Wee Restaurant and Dakota at Queensferry.

Perfectly located, this retreat features a log burning stove, central heating mezzanine bedroom, roll top bath and summerhouse. The garden is a good size with excellent views of the Lomond hills. Also within walking distance you will find gift shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Falkland is a picturesque town , famous for its royal palace. Falkland nestles between the two Lomond Hills and has recently gained lots of interest as the place where "outlander" was filmed.
The cottage is situated at the top of Royal Terrace. It is very private and overlooked only by farm animals. Inside the space is quirky and full of character with a spiral staircase and a living area with double height ceilings. You will find the cottage spacious for two people and the log burner makes winter stays very enjoyable. The garden and summer house offer additional spaces to enjoy. Please note this is an escape from the city, you will have good mobile signal, however we do not provide Wifi so you may have to talk to each other. There are a small collection of books about the local area and a record player. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO LONGER A SOFA BED
Falkland is very quaint and full of character. You will experience a real buzz with coaches of tourists often making short stops. The situation of the cottage is very quiet, but it is only a short walk to all amenities. Golf, tennis, walking, horse riding all available nearby.

My place is five minutes from Leven promenade and beach, in the Kingdom of Fife, famous for being the 'home of golf'. St Andrews is only 12 miles away, Leven Links golf course is 5 minutes away.
My space consists of two choices of bedroom. This one is a single room which is quite small and described as a box room, probably not suitable for a very tall person, the other space listed is a double bedroom. The photos show aspects of my space. You can see that there is a bathroom with shower and bath, a living room, kitchen and dining room where I offer the unique experience of a challenge of a game of pool on a full size American pool table. There is a shed to store bicycles. Also for the Sporty types Leven Links Golf Course is only 5 minutes away. I am a member of this course and I can get you members rates if you fancy a game. I also offer some golf coaching, caddying, and I have a good knowledge of the history of Leven Links Golf Club which is one of the oldest pieces of golfing ground in the world. Leven Links lays claim to the title of the world’s eleventh oldest club! The town of Leven itself lies on the Fife Coastal Path, and this gives access to the coastal towns and fishing villages of East Neuk. This is an excellent area for cyclists to explore.
The historic course of Leven Links is a few minutes away. The front of Leven has marvellous views across the firth of forth towards North Berwick and Edinburgh.

Coronavirus Update - in the light of the new rules, we will only accept bookings from local people who need to protect relatives from the virus, after careful discussion. Holmlea is a cosy but airy cottage c. 1840, nestled in a quiet, pretty little road in the friendly village of Freuchie. With spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, Holmlea has an arty, vintage style, and is a comfortable and relaxing space. The cottage is light, and you can park in the road and in a free car park 25 metres away.
Homelea is full of original features, and we have added a beautiful cream Jotul stove with Delft tiling as a focal point for the living room, with sweet little insect illustrations. All of the artworks in the cottage are original, as we are an artistic family, and many are available for sale. Outside, although there is not a garden, there is a bench where you can sit out in the sun, and a back doorstep area where you can also take chairs and a table out for breakfast or in the evening when it is fair. There are also parks close by and a cricket ground. There is a guitar you can borrow if you didn't manage to bring your own! In the bathroom there is a new shower over a bath, and there is lovely antique furniture throughout. There is a new smart TV, so you can access Netflix, Freeview etc. Please note that although the cottage is all on one level, there is one step up at the front door and three at the back. We have aimed for the cottage to be homely, comfortable, attractive and the sort of place we would love to stay on holiday. Coming mid-January - a lovely sofa bed so we will be to accommodate 4 guests!
Freuchie is a very friendly community, and there are local shops for groceries etc five minutes walk away. There is also a 24 hour garage with large Spar shop just outside Freuchie, which sells craft beers, and great hotels and pubs are also nearby - our guests are often adopted by the friendly villagers! The legendary Pillars of Hercules is a short drive away, a characterful cafe/restaurant with a very laid-back approach, delicious home baked food, and health store - lots of tables outside and in. The Lomond Hills are on your doorstep for amazing 360 degree views of Fife (you can walk, or drive up most of the way to a car park and viewing point), and the historic village of Falkland is a five minute drive away and well worth a visit, for its beautiful old buildings, famous tea rooms, gorgeous gift shops, and the fascinating and beautiful Falkland Palace and Gardens, which features one of the oldest tennis courts in the world. Outlander was filmed here. You will find that almost everyone you pass in Freuchie says hello!

The property is situated in the beautiful, historical village of Falkland, at the north foot of the East Lomond Hill, in the heart of the Kingdom of Fife. Falkland is small but picturesque, with traditional craft shops, quaint cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels and lodges. Its unique charm and history led to Falkland being recognised as the first conservation village in Scotland. Architecturally the burgh is of great interest with many houses being over 300 years old having the thatched roofs replaced with pantiles. The layout is typically medieval with main street and narrow cross wynds. Falkland Palace was built by King James II, one of the finest examples of French renaissance architecture. It was built to accommodate the royal court and used mainly as a hunting lodge. Fire destroyed the east range of the palace in 1654 and the court never returned. The National Trust for Scotland restored the palace in 1954. Britain’s oldest tennis court was built here in 1539. To the west of the village is the beautiful Falkland Estate. The Estate covers around some 1900 hectares, just under one-fifth of which is wooded, with the rest divided between arable farmland on the low ground and rough grazing on the hills. More than a third is an important “designed” landscape whose major elements date from the 19th century. Falkland Estate is today a place of recreation for its many visitors. It has a network of pleasure walks from the Victorian and Edwardian periods as well as fascinating buildings such as the Memorial Chapel, the Tyndall Bruce Monument and the Temple of Decision. Situated next to the Falkland Estate is The Pillars of Hercules. This is lovely organically farmed land with its own cafe, open daily 9-5 serving delicious meals, cakes and coffee. There is also a farm shop open daily 9-6 with a great selection of fresh organic fruit, eggs and vegetables as well as wholefoods, home baked breads, meat, dairy products and gluten-free food. Recently, Falkland was used as the setting for scenes from the TV series, Outlander. The village also hosts a tennis club, a cricket club, a nine hole golf course, a local amateur football club and a bowling club as well as a small Farmer's Market selling the best and freshest of the local produce.

The sitting room downstairs also has a sofa bed if you needed any extra sleeping space. The back garden is a peaceful south-facing terrace with a seating area and a barbecue. It is totally enclosed, and the perfect spot for a glass of wine in the evenings. The cottage is well equipped for children with a cot, highchair and toys, plus Wii and DVD player all available. There are lots of family board games, movies and children's books. Guests can enjoy unlimited Wifi, phone and FreeSat TV, and laundry machines. There is access to a parking space, right next to the cottage. Falkland itself is a friendly little community and has many boutique shops, pubs, and cafes right on your doorstep, as well as a corner shop, art gallery, hairdressers, post office, chemist and bakers and of course the stunning Falkland Palace right across from the house. There are lots of peaceful walks through the Falkland Estate woods, a tennis club and golf course. Since 2013 Falkland has been used for filming the huge US STARZ TV hit "Outlander". The TV series which is based on the series of books by Diana Gabaldon tells the story of Claire Beauchamp who visits Inverness and mysteriously falls back through time to the Jacobite rising, where she meets the young outlaw Jamie Fraser. Falkland was used to re create Inverness itself in the 1940's and many of the houses and shops were re painted and turned into 1940's shops and houses. Our cottage overlooks the monument in the village which featured heavily in the first episode and is just a couple of doors down from "Farrells" where Claire looked at the blue vase (now the lovely Fayre Earth Gift Shop) and Mrs Baird's B&B (the Covenanter Hotel). During the filming in 2016 the crew built a lean to building against our cottage which was used as part of a scene. Unfortunately it was made from polystyrene so is no longer there! We have welcomed many Outlander fans who have used Thistle House as a base for their Outlander adventures! In the evenings Falkland has plenty to offer with the Stag Inn just across the road which has excellent food, and often has live music, as well as the Covenanter Hotel, the Bruce Inn and The Lomond Tavern, all 3 of which are 2 minutes walk away and all serve food. Just across from the cottage, the Campbell's bistro offers excellent coffee, lovely food and baking and you can even take your own wine in the evenings. During the day Falkland has plenty to occupy you - you can walk through the woodland paths of the Falkland Estate to a lovely organic farm shop and café, called the Pillars of Hercules, where you can stock up on organically grown fruit and vegetables and sample delicious homemade cakes and soups. The Estate has many lovely walks through the woodlands that used to be the private hunting ground of Scotland royalty, up through the Mapsie Den to the beautiful waterfall or even up to the Lomond Hills. Falkland is also a perfect base for many lovely day trips. It takes just half an hour to get to the world famous St Andrews, home of golf and full of historic sites, shops and restaurants, or you could follow the Fife Coastal Path and take in the lovely fishing villages of the East Neuk, such as Crail, Elie, Ansthruther and Pittenweem. Scotlands major cities, Edinburgh, Perth, Glasgow and Stirling are all approximate a one-hour drive away. Superb water sports, fishing, skiing/snowboarding, scenic coastal walking, cycling, and horse-riding are a few of the outdoor activities available and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Walking through Falkland, it’s easy to imagine how villages must have looked in the past. For this reason it was made Scotland’s first conservation village in 1970 and Falkland holds an important place in Scotland’s history. A walk around Falkland is a remarkable experience with no fewer than 28 listed buildings in the village. Fine buildings sit next to winding wynds and the beautiful central Bruce Fountain, all set against the backdrop of the Lomond Hill and the woods of the Falkland Estate. Falkland Palace sits at the heart of the village and was the country residence of the Stuart monarchs and a favourite place of Mary Queen of Scots. Surrounded by gardens, this restored Renaissance palace is the perfect place to spend a few hours. The Kingdom Of Fife boasts a wonderful mix of stunning scenery, fascinating history, action packed activities and sports and world renowned cultural festivals - there really is something for everyone. For those interested in nature and the landscape, you could walk or cycle the Fife Coastal Path - that stretches 117 miles from the Forth Estuary in the south to the Tay Estuary in north and takes in wildlife, historic sites and stunning scenery. If you prefer hills to the coast, the Lomond Hills Regional Park takes in geological marvels such as the bizarrely shaped Bonnet Stane and Carlin Maggies Stane. Fife also boasts 300 miles of dedicated cycle routes through pretty seaside villages and along country lanes and disused railway lines. Fife is also home to all three of Scotland’s Blue Flag award-winning beaches: Elie Ruby Bay, Aberdour Silver Sands and Burntisland, alongside several other award-winning beaches. Dunfermline, a former capital of Scotland, was established by Malcolm III as a new seat for royal power in the mid-11th century and this beautiful town is blessed with several historical venues that cannot be missed. Discover the rest of the Kingdom of Fifes royal connections by first visiting the Royal Burgh of Culross, home to an ochre-coloured palace, an extremely grand and impressive house built in the 16th century. Head to the historic town of St Andrews, with its fascinating history this picture-perfect town is illustrated in the medieval centre with its narrow alleys and cobbled streets. Pay a visit to the remains of what was once Scotland’s largest and most magnificent church, climb to the top of the 33 m high St Rule’s Tower for wonderful views of the town and learn more in the Cathedral Museum. Wildlife in Fife: Although one of the smallest regions in size, the Kingdom of Fife boasts a phenomenal number of coastal habitats which are home to various species. With three river estuaries as well as forests and wetlands, the region is the perfect place to spot a vast array of wading birds and wildfowl. Its coastline and islands also provide shelter to marine animals such as grey seals as well as large seabird colonies. Attractions: Travel through the UK’s longest underwater viewing tunnel, dive with sand tiger sharks, explore the seal sanctuary and witness the beautiful coral reefs at Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium. Another fun filled family day out can be spent at the Scottish Deer Centre, home to many different kinds of deer alongside wolves, otters, Highland bulls and Scottish wildcats. Did you know that Fife was home to Scotland’s best-kept secret for over 40 years? Hidden beneath an innocent farmhouse in the East Neuk, discover Scotland’s Secret Bunker, a 100 ft underground bunker, the size of two football pitches, one on top of the other. Fife’s Festivals: There are a number of fantastic local festivals taking place in towns and villages throughout Fife, such as the Bruce Festival, where you can step back in time, or visit Cambo Estate during the Snowdrop Festival in February and March and see carpets of snowdrops by starlight. Literary lovers will enjoy Scotland’s largest poetry festival in March, the StAnza Poetry Festival in St Andrews, which gives vitality to poetry in Scotland’s oldest university town. The Crail Food Festival takes place in June offers the chance to meet local producers alongside cooking demonstrations, taste sessions and live street music. At the East Neuk Festival you can listen to enchanting chamber music in the churches and unusual venues and during the Pittenweem Arts Festival in early August, inspiring artists take over garages and gardens and you can catch a glimpse into exhibitors homes. Don’t miss St Andrews Golf Week, a week-long festival of golf activities in the home of golf or catch golf action at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. There are a variety of Highland games taking place in the summer in towns and villages such as Cupar and Markinch, while the oldest free games in Scotland is held in Ceres. Further afield: Fife is an ideal base because of its central location. In just one hours drive from Falkland you can be in the Cairngorms experiencing the amazing snowboarding and ski fields, or up in the stunning glens and & Big Tree Country of Perthshire.

A whisky distillery, converted into VERY comfortable home. This is where Outlander was filmed! Also central to world famous golf courses and home of professional glass sculptor. See studio, enjoy taster sessions and buy glass and textiles handmade in Scotland! I've recently launched a scarf collection and mini glass sculpture collections inspired by our charismatic landscape. Facilities inc. waterbed, jacuzzi bath. 30 mins to Gleneagles & St Andrews golf courses. 40 mins to Edinburgh.
This townhouse dates back to 1600. The ‘Old Maltings’ was once the private distillery to Falkland Palace, just a mile away.... we're central to world famous golf courses and an energetic arts scene, where the artists open their studio to visitors. The ‘Old Maltings' was converted in 1997 as part of a shared courtyard with 6 terraced properties in the round. Spacious and contemporary, the property forms part of a quiet and characteristic courtyard and enjoys great views over the countryside and the Lomond Hills. The property is on 3 levels, with utility room on the ground floor; kitchen, dining/living room, single bedroom and WC on the first floor, and 3 double bedrooms and family bathroom on the top floor. The Maltings was originally built to accommodate horses and carriages so offers restricted parking for cars and large vehicles today. There is free parking for one car in front if my home with additional free parking on Holm Road, on the approach. See 'OldMaltings' Com for more information on what's to do in the area! See ‘CharonneRuth’ Com for my art and Charonne Ruth Glass Facebook for courses and family experiences. The master bedroom, the LimeTree, has a very comfy heated waterbed and en-suite bathroom with power shower. (The waterbed is set to accommodate a maximum of 140kg). The LemonTwist is a very comfortable and bright double bedroom with built-in wardrobes and views onto the countryside. LavenderMist is a double bedroom with built-in wardrobe and views of the courtyard and Lomond Hills. There's a single 4th bedroom on the 1st floor, and with the daybed opened up into a double bed, it can comfortably accommodate 2 people. All have shared access to the large family bathroom with 'Jacuzi' bath and WC on the 1st floor. Make yourself at home in the large dining kitchen - breakfast is lovely at the counter in the early hours looking onto the courtyard! For evening entertainment, there's the large dining table and lounge, complete with large flat screen surround sound TV and piano, if you feel so inclined... This is a wonderful location for the Open, particularly for those distinguished guests who may want privacy during the Open. This is the home of a professional glass artist, with work held in the US and UK. My studio workshop space occupies a room and garage on the ground floor. Guests are more than welcome to learn about the process and discuss commissioning glass pieces at a discounted rate. ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA Newton of Falkland is a charming rural hamlet located 1 mile from Falkland. Falkland, is a beautiful historic town with extensive grounds. Sites to see include: Falkland Palace and grounds. There are lovely long walks on the estate which include forest, streams and a climb to the top of Lomond Hills for great views of Fife and beyond. Cycling on the estate or around Loch Leven. Very unique gift shops, inc. the Cottage Craft Centre, Fayre Earth and the National Trust. Beautiful walk and dinner at the Balbirnie House and estate, a delightful 18th century Georgian mansion nestled amidst 400 acres of rolling parkland in the heart of Fife. Alternatively, quiet drink at the Wine Bar in Falkland or good pub grub at one of the oldest pubs in Scotland, the Stagg Inn, where you can still get beer made with 1850s recipes. THINGS TO DO NEARBY St Andrews, Gleneagles, Perth and Dundee are approx 30 mins. Edinburgh Airport is within 1hr drive and railway station in nearby Ladybank. Stunning seaside views in St Andrews. Visit the Pier and West Sands, where the opening scene of Chariotts of Fire was filmed. Enjoy medieval architecture and bespoke shops. Great selection of fresh Scottish fish, Thai, Japanese and Italian restaurants. For walkers, there's a healthy mix of coastline walks and hills in either direction including: coastal walk from Crail to Elie, taking in the unique character of historic fishing villages Pittenweem, Anstruther, St Monans and Cellardyke. Expensive, but exquisite dinner at the Cellar, Anstruther. Frequented by HOLLYWOOD STARS during the golf season, inc. Samuel Jackson and Tom Hanks. Munro bagging in Pitlochry and Blair Atholl. Don't miss homemade food at a working Water Mill in Blair Atholl, or excellent fish platter at the House of Bruar, the Harrods of Scotland. Stunning remote landscape of GlenCova Forfar way, where you can 'bag' a few more munroes. FOR GOLFERS, THERE IS: The Old Course, St Andrews, purported being the home of golf, and where the Open and Dunn Hill Cup are held. Pitreavie (Dunfermline) Golf Club, Fife, Scotland (1922): A tremendous parkland course and tricky test with many key MacKenzie trademarks throughout. A short drive from the world famous St. Andrews. The Portland Course at the Royal Troon Golf Club, in Troon, Scotland. A worthy and challenging companion to the Old Course, the many-times Open Championship site. Leven and Ladybank are used for "Open Championship" qualifying rounds when the Open is at St. Andrews. Carnoustie St. Andrews (New) North Berwick (West) Killin Kinghorn Golf Club Dunnikier Park Golf Club Longniddry Golf Club Scotscraig Golf Club Whitekirk Golf & Country Club Blairgowrie (Rosemount) Dunbar Prestonfield Golf Club Crail - Balcomie Craigielaw Scoonie Golf Club Cowdenbeath Golf Club Downfield Golf Club Fairmont Glenrothes Golf Club The Musselburgh Golf Club

Maspie House Gallery now offers visitors the opportunity to stay in our unique and delightful cottage, set in the gardens of Maspie House. The 17th century cottage sits to the rear of the Gallery, overlooking the orchards of Falkland Palace. A tumble-down ruin for many years, it has undergone a complete rebuild and is transformed into elegant B&B accommodation. Many original features of the old cottage will be retained on the outside, whilst on the inside, guests can relax in a modern, warm and welcoming retreat with sitting room, two twin bedrooms and bathroom.
Scotland's first conservation village is best known as the location of Falkland Palace, begun in 1500 by James IV, and the best example of French-influenced Renaissance architecture in the United Kingdom. The palace was built to accommodate the royal Court when they came to Falkland to hunt in the nearby forests; Mary, Queen of Scots, was a frequent visitor. As at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, a fire broke out during the occupation of the buildings by Oliver Cromwell's troops. The fire in 1654 destroyed the East Range. The Court never returned to Falkland Palace after 1665 and until the 19th century the village and palace were neglected. In the late 19th century extensive rebuilding and restoration work began. Today the palace and gardens are open to the public through the National Trust for Scotland. In October 2013 filming for the US science fiction series 'Outlander' transformed the village in appearance to film scenes set in the second world war Falkland Estate is great for walking and cycling

  • The Ruin er framúrskarandi Airbnb!

Cosy annexe in the village of Markinch, with great travel links via the train station (5 minute walk away). The annexe has a private entrance and compromises of a studio bedroom with fireplace, kitchenette and bathroom. Balbirnie House Hotel (wedding venue) is in the village, there are bus links to Falkland (Outlander filming locations) and Edinburgh, St Andrews and Dundee are 45 minutes by train. Plenty of local walks. There's a £20 additional charge for pets. New shower installed 31/07/19

100 year old cottage which has been renovated over the last 18 months. Bright & spacious with a King Size bed, TV, Hairdryer etc on request. Room is in the oldest part of the house so it can be cold...heating works but it’s worth bringing a housecoat & slippers to keep warm in winter..Semi rural so a car is advisable. Nice walks & views all round. I have dogs, cats & horses. 😊 NO WIFI.it can also be muddy here especially in wet weather or in winter..wet dog paws are likely 🤣 Links to Edinburgh.
The Cottage is set in a lovely quiet place and there's an area outside to park and seating to watch the sunset. NO WIFI due to rural location. There is a An Activities centre at the end of the road. You will find details on google, Cluny Clays Activities, you can also get food and drink here. There is a retail park with a Sainsburys near by too. (5 minute drive). You can drive to Edinburgh in 30 minutes or get the train nearby. Birds of Prey Centre also at the end of the road. Can be muddy and mucky in the wet and winter months..so dry shoes or slippers are best for inside...summer is a sun trap 👌
Quiet and peaceful but friendly. You won’t see many people once you’re here, just animals!
