“If you’re up for a very scenic 20-minute drive to Los Alamos: Bob’s Bread… but go early on the weekends, it’s very popular. (Los Alamos is a fantastically funky little cowboy town often featured in Sunset Magazine. Allow time to stroll around the vintage shops and little galleries, as well as check out the Union Hotel - it’s been operating since 1880 when it really was cowboys on the range, packing pistols.)”

“When we moved to Los Alamos over twelve years ago, Flatbread, was one of the only spots in town. Back then this little gem in the rough was only open on weekends, but already had a reputation that spread to our Santa Barbara friends and beyond. Since then they have expanded their hours and their weekend specials are always worth a look. If you can’t decide, our old standby is the Pepperoni and Peppers, add sausage. Wood fired pizzas, including vegan and gluten free options, Sunday suppers (or anything on the specials list), and The Beast for dessert (not on the menu, just ask for it!).”

“Always hopping. Innovative food in a festive, hip atmosphere. A bit loud, tables are shared and you order at a counter. It's got a young vibe and is wildly popular among the foodie set.”

“A great place for lunch is the “Hitching Post 2” in Buellton. They have a sweet BBQ & picnic area (and of course, wine tastings but the wine isn’t that great). They even have a Beyond Meat™ burger, and it’s pretty fab. You can sit and overlook the fields of ostriches and Santa Barbara mountains. ”

“Breakfast. Best Danish pancakes around. Go before 9:00 on the weekends or you'll end up with a long wait.”

“Also a music venue. Try the Los Olivos location if you're on that side of town. Live music weekend afternoons and evenings. Both are large venues with nice outdoor garden areas.”

“There's not many casual places to see Ostriches and Emus up close and to feed them, but here's a great day trip! After spending an hour here, continue up the road a few minutes to Solvang... a wonderful traditional German town experience.”

“Charlies is an icon of Los Alamos! The best damn burgers you will find, as well as the best biscuits and gravy for breakfast around! Eat on the patio as his place is very small. ”

“The rowdiest watering hole in town since the 1880s with a full bar, billiards, burgers and BBQ. The Union is a must visit in Los Alamos, even if it’s just for a drink. You feel like you step back in time when you walk through the door. Play a game of pool, mingle with the locals, have a stiff drink (they make a great whiskey sour), beer or a snack.”

“Located in the historic Los Alamos General Store, Pico (one of Wine Enthusiasts Top 100 Wine Restaurants 2 years in a row) boasts award winning food by Chef Drew, divine cocktails, and a rotating wine list that includes rare “Unicorn Flights”. We always bring first time Los Alamos visitors and order the whole menu family style (or as much as our stomachs will allow). They have fabulously curated special wine events; be sure to get your tickets in advance. ”
