The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.

Ploughman's Rest is situated in the beautiful village of Torrin with stunning views of Blaven and the Red Cuillins. Torrin is 7 miles from the main village Broadford where you can find the local shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. A great place to get an early start for adventures into the cuillins and boat trips into Loch Courisk and the Small Isles.
Stunning views of Blaven and Loch Slapin.

Our lovely flat in the heart of idyllic Arisaig in the highlands has fabulous views to the Atlantic and small Isles of Eigg & Rhum, is a perfect holiday for two with wi-fi, close to pubs, restaurants, rail, boats, great beaches, walking & wildlife.
Our bright and cosy flat adjoins the main house, but is completely self-contained and totally private. It has it's own separate entrance, private parking as well as access directly to private gardens. Its elevated position gives spectacular views to the sea. The flat is fully equipped for convenience, including large 32" tv, with humax player, small dvd library, and free wi-fi. The kitchen has all appliances and the bedroom has good natural light, and is very comfortable, with queen sized brass bed and plenty of storage space.
Arisaig is a small highland village perched on the lochaber peninsular. It has a population of around 300 people, and local amenities include the Arisaig Hotel for pub food, real ale & live music at weekends. The Old Library Restaurant provides the opportunity for fine dining, and Cafe Rhue & the local Marina are great for lunches. There is also a Spa & Post Office. The Marina operates a ferry to the small isles during the months of May - October with regular sightings of our amazing sea & bird life. For a small place, if you love the outdoors, there's loads to do - from the pure white sands of Morar to Arisaig's Land Sea & Island Centre. Good food, good hospitality set against the specactular backdrop of the highlands and islands of Eigg, Muck & Rhum, and all within a short walk from Downey Birch House.

Takk Judith

One double room with comfortable king size bed and ensuite shower room. The room is simply decorated, with prints by my daughter, Laura Kingswood, on the walls. There is a TV/DVD player and a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee. The room is on the ground floor at the rear of the house, overlooking garden and hills. It is separate from the rest of the house, apart from the lounge, which is opposite, where you can enjoy a self-serve Continental breakfast, looking out to sea and the islands.
My house is cosy, warm and comfortable, with stunning views in all directions. It is very peaceful. The room is a generous size. There is underfloor heating and an air re-circulation system keeps the air fresh. The house is close to beautiful sandy beaches and is a pleasant 20 minute walk to Arisaig village, where you will find eateries, shop, marina with boat trips to the Small Isles and a little heritage centre and shop. The Jacobite steam train is a big attraction in the area and passes through the village. There is lots to do and see in the area, so don't rush through!! I have another large double room with king-size bed and private bathroom with bath and shower adjacent (not ensuite) upstairs. See my other listing.
I have one double room with comfortable king size bed and Ensuite shower room. The room is plainly decorated, with prints of my daughter, Laura Kingswood, on the wall. The bedroom is on the ground floor at the rear of the house, overlooking the back garden and hills and is separate from the rest of the house, apart from the lounge, which is opposite and is where you will enjoy a self-serve Continental breakfast, looking out to sea and the islands. Breakfast is taken in the lounge. Apart from breakfast time the lounge is for use of me and my family. I like to welcome guests personally but, if I am unable to, arrangements can be made for you to access a key. I have lived in Arisaig for 27 years and love to share my knowledge of the area. The house is down a short track leading off the coast road, a little less than a mile from the village and a pleasant walk. The closest beach is a 15 minute or so walk and there are many other beaches within a short driving distance. You could be treated to one of our astonishingly beautiful sunsets over the sea towards the Small Isles and the southern tip of the Isle of Skye. The village has a general store with Post Office and cashpoint machine, the Arisaig Hotel, which serves delicious meals and has regular live music (Friday nights are traditional music session nights and there is usually a session on Sunday afternoons. See their website for details of visiting bands and dates this year). Next to the hotel are Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre and Arisaig Archery. Meals are also served at The Old Library Lodge and Rhu cafe, as well as teas and coffees at the Arisaig Marine cafe. From the Marina you can take a day trip to the Small Isles - Eigg, Rum, Canna and Muck - a great day out with time on the island of your choice, plus the chance of spotting seals, dolphin or even minke whale. The Land, Sea and Island centre is a mine of local history information and has a small gift shop. Traigh (pronounced Try) golf course is a mile further along the coast road. Five miles away, at the end of the road, is the fishing port of Mallaig. Here there are a range of shops and the CalMac ferry terminal, with ferries going to the island and Skye. There is a range of shops and a Leisure Centre with swimming pool and Fitness Suite. There are train stations at Arisaig and Mallaig and, in the season, the Jacobite steam train, running from Fort William to Mallaig and back, makes a nice day out. There are local walks of all sorts, and, of course, the beaches!

There you will find a pub, hotel, restaurants, local Spar and Post Office along with a marina offering boat trips to Eigg and Rum. Camusdarach Beach and the famed Silver Sands of Morar are 10 minutes away and the fishing hub of Mallaig with its swimming pool, Coop, gift shops, bars and restaurants about 15 minutes. CaRHUvan is a charming and cosy caravan situated in the heart of Arisaig village. CaRHUvan is in the spacious garden of Rhu Cottage our home which we previously rented out before we moved in permanently in 2017. CaRHUvan is at the side of the house sitting with pride of place on her own raised decking offering great views of the sea. You have your own entrance with a further decking area at the front of the property for enjoying those spectacular Arisaig sunsets.
The toilet/shower hut is on the end of the house opposite the caravan and is for your sole use. CaRHUvan will be made up as a sitting area when you arrive and can be made up to a double bed at night.
The beautiful Rhu Road starts just across the road and makes for a beautiful drive, walk or cycle -gorgeous scenery and wildlife in abundance. You will be a 2 minute walk from Spar and many places to eat and drink. The Arisaig Hotel has music on all through the summer with a cracking new vegan menu added this season. Rhu Cafe does a great breakfast and The Old Library is open for lunch and dinner. Further on down the road is Arisaig marina, from which the Sheerwater sails over to the Small Isles. Near Skye and easy for Loch Ness, Oban, Inverness and Fort William. This lovely old Highland cottage is perfect for couples, Highland explorers, and families. Stay for a few days. There's lots to do: cycling, swimming, kayaking, wildlife watching, whisky tasting, listening to live local music... or just doing nothing! For colder months, there is also a cosy log burning stove.
The cottage is an old building reimagined as a modern, warm and cosy space, great as a refuge from the excesses of Scottish weather. Traditional bathrooms and a cottage kitchen allow guests to enjoy a home from home in the Highlands.
The woodland setting affords glimpses of eagles, buzzards, pinemartins, foxes and badgers, and down the hill you will meet seals, otters and herons. A walk through the green gates will bring you into Arisaig Village, some 2 miles away. Here, the Hotel has live music on Friday nights and a wide ranging bar menu celebrating local seafood and meat. We recommend trips on the Shearwater to Eigg, Muck or Rum, and a journey to Knoydart (on the Western Isles ferry) is always magical. Skye is just 1/2 hour away by ferry, and Loch Ness about one hour distant.
