My fun designer city apartment is in the heart of the exciting Northern Quarter. The bright corner aspect apartment is close to many great restaurants, independent shops and great bars and shopping centres. You’ll love my home because of its excellent location, being homely, bright, private, and peaceful.

Eignin
I had a lot of fun redesigning my apartment to make it quirky, calm, well equipped, and a super comfy home.


The open plan kitchen / diner / lounge is cosy and very bright with a smart TV with loads of channels including Netflix which you can enjoy to the full. It’s all connected to a super fast 4G wifi as the local wired broadband connections are a bit slow in the area. There is also a Ruark hifi which you can connect to via bluetooth as well as tune in to the radio / spotify etc.

The kitchen has a double oven with induction hob and a recirculating extractor fan above it. There is a very quiet dishwasher, a microwave, a fridge, a wine fridge, and a separate small freezer in the laundry cupboard.
I really enjoy cooking, so the kitchen is well equipped with quality knives, many useful utensils, and many other cooking items. There are tea pots, a cafétier, a stove top coffee maker, instant coffees, various teas etc to keep you caffeinated (or decaffeinated). Mind you, you can find some truly wonderful coffee shops in the area too!
There is a lot of crockery to choose from, and in the lower cupboard there are loads of baby and child friendly plates / bowls / cups / cutlery etc.

I also have a teepee tent for the kids to make their own little den with, and have lots of toys, cushions, and books to fill it with.

There is also a balcony off the lounge with a bench if you fancy some morning sun and air with an espresso.

The main bedroom with ensuite shower room is rather big! It has an electric window and remote controlled curtains as well as a king sized bed, large wardrobe, dressing table, and a desk. There is an iMac which I’m happy for you use, and is set up with dozens of links to local things to see and do as well as useful / important / emergency information for you to find. There is also a Bose speaker dock you can connect to via bluetooth; whether it’s for work music, playing Disney songs for the zillionth time to your kids, or feeling a bit of romance coming on.

The ensuite double shower room is minimal and clean, with very good hot water pressure for a strong shower.

The second bedroom has access to the balcony and is a king size double bedroom, although not as monumentally big as the main bedroom. Opposite this bedroom is a large bathroom with a big bath with a proper shower unit installed.

The hallway has various bits of art and prints to enjoy as well as a coat rail and storage shelf for shoes. There are several new slippers to choose from if you fancy, as well as some emergency rain macs and umbrellas you are free to us, although Manchester is far less rainy than I thought it was going to be when I moved here


How do you get in?
.
I aim to meet and help settle in every guest after they buzz themselves in via the door intercom. It has a fob entry system which I’ll give to you with the apartment keys on handover. I’ll provide further details and other possible options during the booking / arrival process. I will also email you a PDF describing how to get here. AT times I may leave the key at a very local diner should timings not align.

The neighbourhood
.
Have I mentioned that this apartment is in one of the coolest areas in the vibrant and exciting community of the Northern Quarter? Famed for its independent shops and boutiques, where you can pick up designer or retro clothes, rare vinyl’s, collectable comics, unusual furniture and superb art and crafts. It has a lively social scene with beautiful restaurants, cool bars, quirky coffee shops, and music venues… there is also a local pub where you can have a good karaoke singalong with the locals.

Supermarkets?
.
There is a Tesco express and a Co-op a 5 minute walk away on Church Street as well as few small corner shops even closer. The Arndale centre has a food market as well with several fish / meat / veg / deli stalls.
I will provide further details in my information pack that will be in my apartment and sent out to confirmed bookings. I may also be able to arrange some shopping for you in advance, just send me a message and I’ll see what can be arranged.

Security?
.
The building has cctv by the main entrance door, both inside and out. Entry is via a key fob that releases the door. My apartment has a regular door lock and a Yale digital touchscreen lock whose code is updated for every guest. My apartment also has cctv with audio, motion sensors, and door sensors which are activated when the property is not booked. During a guests stay the system is disabled, and the camera unplugged if required to avoid any sense of unease.

Parking?

There is no dedicated parking place assigned to the apartment, but there is on street pay by meter / app parking operating between 8am-8pm with 2 hour maximum stay. (Paybyphone app, or cash). There are also several NCP secure car parks very close by. My postcode is M41BH so you will be able to see how close they are using a search engine. I cannot provide you with links to my guidebooks that cover parking etc, as Airbnb will block any links or search engine names until you are a confirmed guest.
Parking has of yet not been a problem for any guests staying at my apartment.

Check in

Please note that a late/early check in needs to be agreed prior to booking as there may be times when I will not be able to meet you or key collection not available. Please note my check in time is generally 2-10pm, and an estimated time of arrival would be very helpful. I am opting for self check ins as these seem to offer the best flexibility.

I can also sometimes offer an early 'bag drop' check in from 11.30, but you would not be able to stay in the apartment after an early check in as I or my cleaner would need to have exclusive use to prepare it for your stay. It would then be available from 2.00pm or whenever you wish to return. Please arrange as soon as possible. Thanks!

Check out is normally by 11.00am, but I may be able to offer you a later check out if no bookings have been made on your check out day.

Hi, So hello, I'm Chris... I'm married to Michelle (who may co-host at times), we have a 4 year old son (manic!), and we relocated to Manchester four years ago from London. I've got to say it was a great move, it's a wonderful city with a good quality of life... and doesn't rain hardly as much as I thought it would! We enjoy travelling, although we never manage to travel as much as we like, and have found the Airbnb experience really good so far. We've now just put our city centre apartment on Airbnb after redesigning it and enjoy hosting a lot... taking note of what does and does not work from our experiences. I'm of the mind that Airbnb isn't for corporate minimally designed / equipped portfolio rentals, but for peoples homes where you can feel part of the city. I like to keep the apartment well equipped, homely, and clean without the clutter. Home from home, a place to totally unwind and feel you can make your own. My background was in art, then became a designer in the film industry after starting as a runner, then somehow did a weird sidestep into design, and then being an art director / creative director in the ad world in London... which finished me off, so thus began our journey to Manchester where my wife is originally from. I have a love of Art, Japanese prints, and comic art; with some shows in the conceptual pipeline.
